Ecclesiastes 8:5-6
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
Whoever keeps a command will know no evil thing, and the wise heart will know the proper time and the just way. For there is a time and a way for everything, although man’s trouble lies heavy on him.
Ecclesiastes 8:2-7-2-7 The Message (MSG)
Do what your king commands; you gave a sacred oath of obedience. Don’t worryingly second-guess your orders or try to back out when the task is unpleasant. You’re serving his pleasure, not yours. The king has the last word. Who dares say to him, “What are you doing?” Carrying out orders won’t hurt you a bit; the wise person obeys promptly and accurately. Yes, there’s a right time and way for everything, even though, unfortunately, we miss it for the most part. It’s true that no one knows what’s going to happen, or when. Who’s around to tell us?
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
He who keeps a royal command experiences no trouble, for a wise heart knows the proper time and procedure. For there is a proper time and procedure for every delight, though a man’s trouble is heavy upon him.
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 New Living Translation (NLT)
Those who obey him will not be punished. Those who are wise will find a time and a way to do what is right, for there is a time and a way for everything, even when a person is in trouble.
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 King James Version (KJV)
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 New Century Version (NCV)
Whoever obeys the king’s command will be safe. A wise person does the right thing at the right time. There is a right time and a right way for everything, yet people often have many troubles.
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 American Standard Version (ASV)
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall know no evil thing; and a wise man’s heart discerneth time and judgment: for to every purpose there is a time and judgment; because the misery of man is great upon him
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 New International Version (NIV)
Whoever obeys his command will come to no harm, and the wise heart will know the proper time and procedure. For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a person may be weighed down by misery.
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 New King James Version (NKJV)
He who keeps his command will experience nothing harmful; And a wise man’s heart discerns both time and judgment, Because for every matter there is a time and judgment, Though the misery of man increases greatly.
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Whoever keeps and observes a royal command will experience neither trouble nor misery; For a wise heart will know the proper time and [appropriate] procedure. For there is a proper time and [appropriate] procedure for every delight, Though mankind’s misery and trouble lies heavily upon him [who rebels against the king].
