Ecclesiastes 8:5
Ecclesiastes 8:2-7 The Message (MSG)
Do what your king commands; you gave a sacred oath of obedience. Don’t worryingly second-guess your orders or try to back out when the task is unpleasant. You’re serving his pleasure, not yours. The king has the last word. Who dares say to him, “What are you doing?” Carrying out orders won’t hurt you a bit; the wise person obeys promptly and accurately. Yes, there’s a right time and way for everything, even though, unfortunately, we miss it for the most part. It’s true that no one knows what’s going to happen, or when. Who’s around to tell us?
Ecclesiastes 8:5 King James Version (KJV)
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment.
Ecclesiastes 8:5 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
He who keeps a royal command experiences no trouble, for a wise heart knows the proper time and procedure.
Ecclesiastes 8:5 New Century Version (NCV)
Whoever obeys the king’s command will be safe. A wise person does the right thing at the right time.
Ecclesiastes 8:5 American Standard Version (ASV)
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall know no evil thing; and a wise man’s heart discerneth time and judgment
Ecclesiastes 8:5 New International Version (NIV)
Whoever obeys his command will come to no harm, and the wise heart will know the proper time and procedure.
Ecclesiastes 8:5 New King James Version (NKJV)
He who keeps his command will experience nothing harmful; And a wise man’s heart discerns both time and judgment
Ecclesiastes 8:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Whoever keeps and observes a royal command will experience neither trouble nor misery; For a wise heart will know the proper time and [appropriate] procedure.
