Psalms 87
Foreign Nations Come to Worship in Jerusalem
Of the sons of Korah. A psalm. A song.#The Hebrew Bible counts the superscription as the first verse of the psalm
1His foundation is on the holy mountains.
2Yahweh loves the gates of Zion
more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
3Glorious things are spoken about#Or “in” you,
O city of God. Selah
4I will record#Or “mention” those who know me
in Rahab#That is, Egypt; compare Isa 30:7 and Babylon,
behold in Philistia and Tyre with Cush,
“This one was born there.”
5But with respect to Zion it shall be said,
“Each one#Literally “A man and a man” was born in her,”
for the Most High himself will establish her.
6Yahweh will record in writing the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah
7And while dancing, singers will sing,
“All my springs are in you.”
