Preparation of Materials and People for Building
1And Moses assembled all the community of the Israelites,#Literally “sons/children of Israel” and he said to them, “These are the words that Yahweh has commanded for us to do them. 2On six days work can be done, and on the seventh there will be for you a holy day,#Literally “holiness” a Sabbath of complete rest,#Literally “a Sabbath of ‘Sabbathation.’ ” “Sabbathation” is not a real word, but it is devised as an attempt to convey the sounds of the related nouns in the Hebrew phrase for Yahweh; anyone doing work on it will be put to death. 3You will not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the day of the Sabbath.”
4And Moses said to all the community of the Israelites,#Literally “sons/children of Israel” saying, “This is the word that Yahweh has commanded, saying, 5‘Take from among you a contribution for Yahweh, anyone willing of heart, let him bring Yahweh’s contribution—gold and silver and bronze, 6and blue and purple and crimson yarns, and fine linen and goat hair, 7and red-dyed ram skins, and fine leather,#The particular kind of leather is uncertain and acacia wood, 8and oil for the lamp, balsam oils for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 9onyx stones and stones for mountings on the ephod and the breast piece.
10“And let all the skilled of heart among you come and make all that Yahweh has commanded: 11The tabernacle, its tent, and its covering; its clasps and its frames;#Or “boards” or “planks” its bars, its pillars, and its bases; 12the ark and its poles; the atonement cover and the curtain of the screen; 13the table and its poles and all its equipment; and the bread of the presence; 14and lampstand of the light and its equipment and its lamps and the oil for the light; 15and the altar of incense and its poles; and the anointing oil and the fragrant incense and the entrance curtain for the entrance of the tabernacle; 16the altar of the burnt offering and the bronze grating that is for it, its poles and all its equipment; the basin and its stand; 17the hangings of the courtyard, its pillars, and its bases, and the screen for the courtyard gate; 18the pegs#Literally “hands” of the tabernacle and the pegs#Literally “hands” of the courtyard and their cords; 19the woven garments for serving in the sanctuary—the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons to serve as priests.”
20And all the community of the Israelites#Literally “sons/children of Israel” went out from before Moses. 21And they came—every man whose heart lifted him and every man whose spirit impelled him—they brought Yahweh’s contribution for the work of the tent of assembly and for all its service and for the holy garments. 22And they came, the men in addition to the women, all who were willing of heart; they brought brooches and jewelry rings and signet rings and ornaments—every variety of gold object—every man who waved a wave offering of gold for Yahweh, 23and every man with whom was found blue and purple and crimson yarns and fine linen and goat hair and red-dyed ram skins and fine leather brought it. 24All who were presenting a contribution of silver and bronze brought Yahweh’s contribution, and all with whom was found acacia wood for all the work of service brought it. 25And every woman who was skilled of heart with her hands they spun, and they brought yarn—the blue and the purple, the crimson and the fine linen. 26And all the women whose heart lifted them with skill spun the goat hair. 27And the leaders brought the onyx stones and stones for mountings for the ephod and for the breast piece 28and the balsam oils and the oil for light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. 29Every man and woman whose heart impelled them to bring for all the work to be done that Yahweh had commanded by the agency of#Literally “by the hand of” Moses—the Israelites#Literally “sons/children of Israel” brought freely to Yahweh.
30And Moses said to the Israelites,#Literally “sons/children of Israel” “See, Yahweh has called by name#In other words, “specifically chosen” Bezalel the son of Uri the son of Hur, from the tribe of Judah. 31And he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom and with skill#Or “understanding,” “discernment,” “cleverness” and with knowledge and with every kind of craftsmanship, 32and to devise designs, to work with the gold and with the silver and with the bronze, 33and in stonecutting for setting and in cutting wood, for doing every kind of design craftsmanship. 34And he has put it in his heart to teach—he and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach, from the tribe of Dan. 35He has filled them with skill of heart to do every work of a craftsman and a designer and an embroiderer with the blue and with the purple, with the crimson yarns and with the fine linen and a weaver; they are doers of every kind of craftsmanship and devisers of designs.

Sabbath Regulations
1Then Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said to them, #Ex. 34:32“These are the words which the Lord has commanded you to do: 2Work shall be done for #Ex. 20:9, 10; Lev. 23:3; Deut. 5:13six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to #Num. 15:32–36death. 3#Ex. 12:16; 16:23You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”
Offerings for the Tabernacle
4And Moses spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, #Ex. 25:1, 2“This is the thing which the Lord commanded, saying: 5‘Take from among you an offering to the Lord. #Ex. 25:2; 1 Chr. 29:14; Mark 12:41–44; 2 Cor. 8:10–12; 9:7Whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as an offering to the Lord: #Ex. 38:24gold, silver, and bronze; 6#Ex. 36:8blue, purple, and scarlet thread, fine linen, and #Ex. 36:14goats’ hair; 7ram skins dyed red, badger skins, and acacia wood; 8oil for the light, #Ex. 25:6; 30:23–25and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense; 9onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate.

10#Ex. 31:2–6; 36:1, 2‘All who are gifted artisans among you shall come and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11#Ex. 26:1, 2; 36:14the tabernacle, its tent, its covering, its clasps, its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its sockets; 12#Ex. 25:10–22the ark and its poles, with the mercy seat, and the veil of the covering; 13the #Ex. 25:23table and its poles, all its utensils, #Ex. 25:30; Lev. 24:5, 6and the showbread; 14also #Ex. 25:31the lampstand for the light, its utensils, its lamps, and the oil for the light; 15#Ex. 30:1the incense altar, its poles, #Ex. 30:25the anointing oil, #Ex. 30:34–38the sweet incense, and the screen for the door at the entrance of the tabernacle; 16#Ex. 27:1–8the altar of burnt offering with its bronze grating, its poles, all its utensils, and the laver and its base; 17#Ex. 27:9–18the hangings of the court, its pillars, their sockets, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18the pegs of the tabernacle, the pegs of the court, and their cords; 19#Ex. 31:10; 39:1, 41the garments of ministry, for ministering in the holy place—the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests.’ ”
The Tabernacle Offerings Presented
20And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. 21Then everyone came #Ex. 25:2; 35:5, 22, 26, 29; 36:2whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they #Ex. 35:24brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments. 22They came, both men and women, as many as had a willing heart, and brought #Ex. 32:2, 3earrings and nose rings, rings and necklaces, all #Ex. 11:2jewelry of gold, that is, every man who made an offering of gold to the Lord. 23And #1 Chr. 29:8every man, with whom was found blue, purple, and scarlet thread, fine linen, and goats’ hair, red skins of rams, and badger skins, brought them. 24Everyone who offered an offering of silver or bronze brought the Lord’s offering. And everyone with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service, brought it. 25All the women who were #Ex. 28:3; 31:6; 36:1gifted artisans spun yarn with their hands, and brought what they had spun, of blue, purple, and scarlet, and fine linen. 26And all the women whose hearts stirred with wisdom spun yarn of goats’ hair. 27#1 Chr. 29:6; Ezra 2:68The rulers brought onyx stones, and the stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate, 28and #Ex. 30:23spices and oil for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense. 29The children of Israel brought a #Ex. 35:5, 21; 36:3; 1 Chr. 29:9freewill offering to #Ex. 31:1–6the Lord, all the men and women whose hearts were willing to bring material for all kinds of work which the Lord, by the hand of Moses, had commanded to be done.
The Artisans Called by God
30And Moses said to the children of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; 31and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship, 32to design artistic works, to work in gold and silver and bronze, 33in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of artistic workmanship.
34“And He has put in his heart the ability to teach, in him and #Ex. 31:6Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35He has #Ex. 31:3, 6; 35:31; 1 Kin. 7:14; 2 Chr. 2:14; Is. 28:26filled them with skill to do all manner of work of the engraver and the designer and the tapestry maker, in blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine linen, and of the weaver—those who do every work and those who design artistic works.
