Genesis 6
6
1And it cometh to pass that mankind have begun to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters have been born to them,
2and sons of God see the daughters of men that they [are] fair, and they take to themselves women of all whom they have chosen.
3And Jehovah saith, ‘My Spirit doth not strive in man — to the age; in their erring they [are] flesh:’ and his days have been an hundred and twenty years.
4The fallen ones were in the earth in those days, and even afterwards when sons of God come in unto daughters of men, and they have borne to them — they [are] the heroes, who, from of old, [are] the men of name.
5And Jehovah seeth that abundant [is] the wickedness of man in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart only evil all the day;
6and Jehovah repenteth that He hath made man in the earth, and He grieveth Himself — unto His heart.
7And Jehovah saith, ‘I wipe away man whom I have prepared from off the face of the ground, from man unto beast, unto creeping thing, and unto fowl of the heavens, for I have repented that I have made them.’
8And Noah found grace in the eyes of Jehovah.
9These [are] births of Noah: Noah [is] a righteous man; perfect he hath been among his generations; with God hath Noah walked habitually.
10And Noah begetteth three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11And the earth is corrupt before God, and the earth is filled [with] violence.
12And God seeth the earth, and lo, it hath been corrupted, for all flesh hath corrupted its way on the earth.
13And God said to Noah, ‘An end of all flesh hath come before Me, for the earth hath been full of violence from their presence; and lo, I am destroying them with the earth.
14‘Make for thyself an ark of gopher-wood; rooms dost thou make with the ark, and thou hast covered it within and without with cypress;
15and this [is] that which thou dost with it: three hundred cubits [is] the length of the ark, fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height;
16a window dost thou make for the ark, and unto a cubit thou dost restrain it from above; and the opening of the ark thou dost put in its side, — lower, second, and third [stories] dost thou make it.
17‘And I, lo, I am bringing in the deluge of waters on the earth to destroy all flesh, in which [is] a living spirit, from under the heavens; all that [is] in the earth doth expire.
18‘And I have established My covenant with thee, and thou hast come in unto the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy son's wives with thee;
19and of all that liveth, of all flesh, two of every [sort] thou dost bring in unto the ark, to keep alive with thee; male and female are they.
20Of the fowl after its kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every [sort] they come in unto thee, to keep alive.
21‘And thou, take to thyself of all food that is eaten; and thou hast gathered unto thyself, and it hath been to thee and to them for food.’
22And Noah doth according to all that God hath commanded him; so hath he done.

Man’s Wickedness
1#Ge 1:28When men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them, 2the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair and took as wives any they chose. 3#Ps 78:39; Ne 9:30The Lord said, “My Spirit will not always strive with man, for he is flesh; yet his days will be a hundred and twenty years.”
4#Nu 13:33; Dt 3:11The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
5#Ge 8:21; Mt 15:19The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was continually only evil. 6#Isa 63:10; 1Sa 15:11The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him in His heart. 7So the Lord said, “I will destroy man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—both man and beast, and the creeping things, and the birds of the sky, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8#Ge 19:19; Lk 1:30But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
Noah and the Flood
9#Lk 1:6; 2Pe 2:5These are the generations of Noah.
Noah was a just man and blameless among his contemporaries. Noah walked with God. 10#Ge 5:32Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11#Eze 8:17The earth was corrupt before God and filled with violence. 12#Job 22:15–17; 33:27God looked on the earth and saw it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 13#Am 8:2; 1Pe 4:7So God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh is come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Now I will destroy them with the earth. 14#Ex 2:3; 1Pe 3:20Make an ark of cypress wood for yourself. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. 15And this is how you must make it: The length of the ark will be three hundred cubits, the width of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.#About 10 pounds, or 4.6 kilograms. 16Make an opening#Or roof. one cubit#About 18 inches, or 45 centimeters. below the top of the ark all around; and you must set the door of the ark on the side. Make it with a lower, a second, and a third story. 17#Ge 7:4; 7:21–23; 2Pe 2:5I will bring a flood of waters on the earth to destroy all flesh, wherever there is the breath of life under heaven, and everything that is on the earth will die. 18#Ge 7:7; 7:1But I will establish My covenant with you; you must go into the ark—you, and your sons, and your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19Bring every living thing of all flesh, two of every kind, into the ark to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female. 20Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal, and of every kind of creeping thing of the earth will come to you to be kept alive. 21#Ge 1:29–30Also, take with you of every kind of food that is eaten and gather it to yourself, and it will be for food for you and for them.”
22#Ge 7:5; 7:9Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.
