Psalm 24
A psalm by David.
1The earth and everything it contains are the Lord’s.
The world and all who live in it are his.
2He laid its foundation on the seas
and set it firmly on the rivers.
3Who may go up the Lord’s mountain?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 ⌞The one who⌟ has clean hands and a pure heart
and does not long for what is false
or lie when he is under oath.
5 ⌞This person⌟ will receive a blessing from the Lord
and righteousness from God, his savior.
6This is the person who seeks him,
who searches for the face of the God of Jacob.#24:6 A few Hebrew manuscripts, Greek, Syriac; Masoretic Text “your face, Jacob.” Selah
7Lift your heads, you gates.
Be lifted, you ancient doors,
so that the king of glory may come in.
8Who is this king of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty!
The Lord, heroic in battle!
9Lift your heads, you gates.
Be lifted, you ancient doors,
so that the king of glory may come in.
10Who, then, is this king of glory?
The Lord of Armies is the king of glory! Selah

PSALM 24
The King of Glory Entering Zion.
# In the Talmud it is said that the Levites sang a particular psalm for every day of the week, and this was the psalm for the first day. A Psalm of David.
1The earth #The ancient rabbis taught that since the earth and everything it contains belongs to the Lord, it is sacrilege to enjoy anything of the world without first saying a benediction for it.is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it,
The world, and those who dwell in it.
2For He has founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the streams and the rivers.
3Who may ascend onto the #I.e. Mount Zion.mountain of the Lord?
And who may stand in His holy place?
4He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to what is false,
Nor has sworn [oaths] deceitfully.
5He shall receive a blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6This is the generation (description) of those who diligently seek Him and require Him as their greatest need,
Who seek Your face, even [as did] Jacob. Selah.
7Lift up your heads, O gates,
And be lifted up, ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in.
8Who is the King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
9Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift them up, ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in.
10Who is [He then] this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory [who rules over all creation with His heavenly armies]. Selah.
