Psalm 16
A miktam #16:0 Unknown musical term. by David.
1Protect me, O God, because I take refuge in you.
2I said to the Lord,
“You are my Lord. Without you, I have nothing good.”
3Those who lead holy lives on earth
are the noble ones who fill me with joy.
4Those who quickly chase after other gods multiply their sorrows.
I will not pour out their sacrificial offerings of blood
or use my lips to speak their names.
5The Lord is my inheritance and my cup.
You are the one who determines my destiny.
6Your boundary lines mark out pleasant places for me.
Indeed, my inheritance is something beautiful.
7I will praise the Lord, who advises me.
My conscience warns me at night.
8I always keep the Lord in front of me.
When he is by my side, I cannot be moved.
9That is why my heart is glad and my soul rejoices.
My body rests securely
10because you do not abandon my soul to the grave
or allow your holy one to decay.
11You make the path of life known to me.
Complete joy is in your presence.
Pleasures are by your side forever.

(A mikhtam of Dovid)
1Be shomer over me, O El: for in Thee do I hide myself.
2I said unto Hashem, Thou art Adonoi of me; besides Thee I have no good;
3But to the Kedoshim that are in ha'aretz, they are the glorious ones, in whom is all my delight.
4Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after other g-ds; their nesakhim (drink offerings) of dahm will I not offer, nor take up their shmot (names)#16:4 of idols on my lips.
5 Hashem is the chelek (allotted share) of mine inheritance and of my kos (cup);#16:5 of blessing Thou maintainest my goral (lot, allotment by the divine will).
6The boundary lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly nachalah (inheritance).
7I will bless Hashem, Who hath given me counsel; my mind also instructs me in the night seasons.
8I have set Hashem always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
9Therefore my lev is glad, and my kavod rejoiceth; my basar also shall dwell securely.#16:9 See 1Th 5:23
10For Thou wilt not abandon my nefesh in Sheol; neither wilt Thou allow Thine Chasid to see shachat (corruption, the pit, the grave, the abyss of corruption).#16:10 See Ac 2:24
11Thou wilt show me the Orach Chayyim (the path of life); in Thy presence is fulness of joy, at Thy right hand there are pleasures netzach (for evermore).
