Proverbs 11

1 # ch. 16:11; 20:10, 23; See Lev. 19:35, 36 A false balance is an abomination to the Lord,
# [ch. 12:22] but a just weight is his delight.
2 # ch. 16:18; 18:12; 29:23; [Dan. 4:30, 31] When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with #Mic. 6:8the humble is wisdom.
3 # ch. 13:6 The integrity of the upright guides them,
# ch. 19:3 but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.

5The righteousness of the blameless #ch. 3:6keeps his way straight,
but the wicked falls by his own wickedness.

7When the wicked dies, his #ch. 10:28 hope will perish,

and the wicked walks into it instead.
9With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor,
but by knowledge the righteous are delivered.

and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness.
11By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted,
but #Ps. 10:7 by the mouth of the wicked #[ch. 14:1; 29:8]it is overthrown.
12Whoever #ch. 14:21; [Matt. 7:1]belittles his neighbor lacks sense,
but a man of understanding remains silent.
13Whoever #ch. 20:19; Lev. 19:16goes about slandering reveals secrets,
but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.
14Where there is #ch. 15:22; 20:18; 24:6no guidance, a people falls,
# ch. 15:22; 20:18; 24:6 but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
15 # [ch. 6:1; Job 17:3] Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer harm,
but he who hates striking hands in pledge is secure.

but a cruel man hurts himself.
18The wicked earns deceptive wages,

19Whoever is steadfast in righteousness #ch. 10:16; 19:23 will live,
but #[Rom. 6:23; Gal. 6:8]he who pursues evil will die.
20Those of #[ch. 17:20] crooked heart are #ch. 12:22; 16:5 an abomination to the Lord,
but those of #ch. 13:6; Ps. 119:1 blameless ways are #1 Chr. 29:17his delight.
21 # ch. 16:5 Be assured, #ch. 12:7; [Ps. 37:2, 9]; See Isa. 28:15-18 an evil person will not go unpunished,
but #See Ps. 112:2the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.
22Like #[Gen. 24:47; Isa. 3:21; Ezek. 16:12]a gold ring in a pig’s snout
is a beautiful woman without discretion.
23The desire of the righteous ends only in good,
# Rom. 2:8, 9 the expectation of the wicked in wrath.
24 # ch. 13:7 One gives #Ps. 37:21; 112:9; [ch. 19:17]freely, yet grows all the richer;
another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
25 # See 2 Cor. 9:6-11 Whoever brings blessing #ch. 13:4; 28:25 will be enriched,
and #[Matt. 7:2]one who waters will himself be watered.
26 # ch. 24:24 The people curse him who holds back grain,
but #[Job 29:13] a blessing is on the head of him who #[Gen. 42:6]sells it.
27Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor,#11:27 Or acceptance
but evil comes to #See Ps. 7:16him who searches for it.
28Whoever #See Ps. 49:6 trusts in his riches will fall,
but the righteous will #Jer. 17:8; See Ps. 92:12flourish like a green leaf.
29Whoever #ch. 15:27 troubles his own household will #[Eccles. 5:16]inherit the wind,
and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.
30The fruit of the righteous is #See ch. 3:18 a tree of life,
and whoever #Dan. 12:3; James 5:20; See 1 Cor. 9:19-22captures souls is wise.
31If #[Jer. 25:29; 1 Pet. 4:18]the righteous is repaid on earth,
how much more the wicked and the sinner!
