Psalm 83

O God, Do Not Keep Silence
A Song. A Psalm of #See Ps. 50, titleAsaph.
1O God, do not keep silence;
# See Ps. 28:1 do not hold your peace or be still, O God!
2For behold, your enemies #[Ps. 2:1] make an uproar;
those who hate you have #Judg. 8:28raised their heads.
3They lay #[Neh. 4:8] crafty plans against your people;
they consult together against your #See Ps. 27:5; 31:20treasured ones.
4They say, “Come, #Jer. 48:2; [Ps. 74:8; Esth. 3:6]let us wipe them out as a nation;
let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”
5For they conspire with one accord;
against you they make a covenant—
6the tents of #Ps. 137:7; See 2 Chr. 20:10 Edom and #See Gen. 25:12-16 the Ishmaelites,
#
2 Chr. 20:10 Moab and #1 Chr. 5:10the Hagrites,
7 #
Josh. 13:5 Gebal and #[See ver. 6 above] Ammon and #1 Sam. 15:2 Amalek,
#
1 Sam. 4:1; [Amos 1:6] Philistia with the inhabitants of #Ezek. 27:3; [Amos 1:9]Tyre;
8 #
2 Kgs. 15:19 Asshur also has joined them;
they are the strong arm of #Deut. 2:9, 19the children of Lot. Selah
9Do to them as you did to #Num. 31:7; See Isa. 9:4 Midian,
as to #Judg. 4:15, 24 Sisera and Jabin at #Judg. 4:7; 5:21the river Kishon,
10who were destroyed at #Josh. 17:11; 1 Sam. 28:7 En-dor,
who became #See Job 20:7dung for the ground.
11Make their nobles like #Judg. 7:25; 8:3 Oreb and Zeeb,
all their princes like #See Judg. 8:5-21Zebah and Zalmunna,
12who said, #[2 Chr. 20:11]“Let us take possession for ourselves
of the pastures of God.”
13O my God, make them like #Isa. 17:13 whirling dust,#83:13 Or like a tumbleweed
like #Job 13:25; 21:18; [Ps. 1:4]chaff before the wind.
14As #[Isa. 9:18]; See Isa. 10:16-19 fire consumes the forest,
as the flame #Deut. 32:22sets the mountains ablaze,
15so may you pursue them #Job 9:17with your tempest
and terrify them with your hurricane!
16 # [Ps. 35:4, 26; Job 10:15] Fill their faces with shame,
that they may seek your name, O Lord.
17Let them be #Ps. 35:4put to shame and dismayed forever;
let them perish in disgrace,
18that they may #Ps. 59:13 know that you alone,
#
Ex. 6:3 whose name is the Lord,
are #Ps. 9:2; 18:13; 97:9the Most High over all the earth.

PSALM 83.
1Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core.
2How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host!
3my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God.
4For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God.
5Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever.
6Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps,
7in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set.
8For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.
9O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.
10Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ.
11For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners.
12For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory.
13He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence: O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
