Taste and See That the Lord Is Good
# 34:1 This psalm is an acrostic poem, each verse beginning with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet Of David, when he #1 Sam. 21:13 changed his behavior before #[1 Sam. 21:10, 11, 12, 14]Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away.
1I will bless the Lord #[Eph. 5:20; 1 Thess. 5:18]at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2My soul #Ps. 44:8; 1 Sam. 2:1; Jer. 9:24 makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and #Ps. 119:74be glad.
3Oh, #Ps. 35:27; 40:16; 69:30; 70:4; Luke 1:46magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
4I #2 Chr. 15:2; [Matt. 7:7]sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
5Those who look to him are #Isa. 60:5; [Ps. 4:6]radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
6 # ver. 15, 17 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and #ver. 17, 19; 2 Sam. 22:1saved him out of all his troubles.

Dan. 6:22; Heb. 1:14 The angel of the Lord #[Gen. 32:1, 2; 2 Kgs. 6:17]encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
8Oh, #Heb. 6:5; 1 Pet. 2:3 taste and see that #Ps. 100:5 the Lord is good!
# See Ps. 2:12 Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
9Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints,
for those who fear him have no lack!

not one of them is broken.

Ps. 94:23; Prov. 24:16; [Ps. 7:15, 16] Affliction will slay the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
22The Lord #See Ps. 25:22 redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be #[Rom. 8:33, 34]condemned.

(Written by David when he pretended to be crazy in front of Abimelech, so that Abimelech would send him away, and David could leave.)
Honor the Lord
1 #
1 S 21.13-15. I will always praise the Lord.
2With all my heart,
I will praise the Lord.
Let all who are helpless,
listen and be glad.
3Honor the Lord with me!
Celebrate his great name.
4I asked the Lord for help,
and he saved me
from all my fears.
5Keep your eyes on the Lord!
You will shine like the sun
and never blush with shame.
6I was a nobody, but I prayed,
and the Lord saved me
from all my troubles.
7If you honor the Lord,
his angel will protect you.

1 P 2.3. Discover for yourself
that the Lord is kind.
Come to him for protection,
and you will be glad.
9Honor the Lord!
You are his special people.
No one who honors the Lord
will ever be in need.
10Young lions#34.10 Young lions: In the Psalms wild animals often stand for God's enemies. may go hungry
or even starve,
but if you trust the Lord,
you will never miss out
on anything good.
11Come, my children, listen
as I teach you
to respect the Lord.

1 P 3.10-12. Do you want to live
and enjoy a long life?
13Then don't say cruel things
and don't tell lies.
14Do good instead of evil
and try to live at peace.
15If you obey the Lord,
he will watch over you
and answer your prayers.
16But God despises evil people,
and he will wipe them all
from the earth,
till they are forgotten.
17When his people pray for help,
he listens and rescues them
from their troubles.
18The Lord is there to rescue
all
who are discouraged
and have given up hope.
19The Lord's people
may suffer a lot,
but he will always
bring them safely through.

Jn 19.36. Not one of their bones
will ever be broken.
21Wicked people are killed
by their own evil deeds,
and if you hate God's people
you will be punished.
22The Lord saves the lives
of his servants.
Run to him for protection,
and you won't be punished.
