Psalm 26
26
I Will Bless the Lord
Of David.
1 # See Ps. 7:8 Vindicate me, O Lord,
for I have #ver. 11 walked in my integrity,
and I have #See Ps. 11:1trusted in the Lord without wavering.
2 # See Ps. 7:9; 17:3; 139:23 Prove me, O Lord, and try me;
test my heart and #Ps. 7:9my mind.#26:2 Hebrew test my kidneys and my heart
3For your #[Ps. 25:10] steadfast love is before my eyes,
and I #2 Kgs. 20:3; [Ps. 86:11]walk in your #[Ps. 25:10] faithfulness.
4I do not #See Ps. 1:1 sit with men of #Job 11:11falsehood,
nor do I consort with hypocrites.
5I #Ps. 31:6; 139:21, 22hate the assembly of evildoers,
and I will not sit with the wicked.
6I #Ps. 73:13; [Ex. 30:19, 20; Deut. 21:6]wash my hands in innocence
and go around your altar, O Lord,
7proclaiming thanksgiving aloud,
and telling all your #See Ps. 9:1wondrous deeds.
8O Lord, I #[Ps. 27:4]love the habitation of your house
and the place where your glory dwells.
9 # [Ps. 28:3] Do not sweep my soul away with sinners,
nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
10in whose hands are evil devices,
and whose right hands are full of #Ex. 23:8; Deut. 16:19bribes.
11But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;
redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12My foot stands on #See Ps. 27:11 level ground;
in #Ps. 22:25the great assembly I will bless the Lord.

Psalms 26
26
(By David.)
The Prayer of an Innocent Person
1Show that I am right, Lord!
I stay true to myself,
and I have trusted you
without doubting.
2Test my thoughts and find out
what I am like.
3I never forget your kindness,
and I am always faithful
to you.#26.3 I am … to you: Or “I trust your faithfulness.”
4I don't spend my time
with worthless liars
5or go with evil crowds.
6I wash my hands, Lord,
to show my innocence,
and I worship at your altar,
7while gratefully singing
about your wonders.
8I love the temple
where you live, and where
your glory shines.
9Don't sweep me away,
as you do sinners.
Don't punish me with death
as you do those people
who are brutal
10or full of meanness
or who bribe others.
11I stay true to myself.
Be kind and rescue me.
12Now I stand on solid ground!
And when your people meet,
I will praise you, Lord.
