Lawsuits Against Believers
1When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous #[Matt. 18:17]instead of the saints? 2Or do you not know that #Dan. 7:22; [Matt. 19:28; Rev. 20:4]the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? 3Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! 4So if you have such cases, #[ch. 5:12]why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? 5#ch. 15:34; [ch. 4:14]I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, 6but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? 7To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. #[Matt. 5:39, 40]Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? 8But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even #1 Thess. 4:6your own brothers!#6:8 Or brothers and sisters
9Or do you not know that the unrighteous#6:9 Or wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: #ch. 15:50; Gal. 5:21; Eph. 5:5; 1 Tim. 1:9; Heb. 12:14; 13:4; Rev. 21:8; 22:15neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,#6:9 The two Greek terms translated by this phrase refer to the passive and active partners in consensual homosexual acts 10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And #ch. 12:2; Eph. 2:2, 3; 4:22; 5:8; Col. 3:7; Titus 3:3 such were some of you. But #Acts 22:16; Heb. 10:22; [Titus 3:5] you were washed, #See ch. 1:2 you were sanctified, #Rom. 8:30you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Flee Sexual Immorality
12 # ch. 10:23 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. 13#[Matt. 15:17] “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one #Col. 2:22 and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but #ver. 15, 19 for the Lord, and #[Eph. 5:23]the Lord for the body. 14And #See Acts 2:24 God raised the Lord and #ch. 15:22, 23; [John 6:39, 40] will also raise us up #Matt. 22:29; [Eph. 1:19, 20]by his power. 15Do you not know that #ver. 13; Eph. 5:30; [ch. 12:27; Rom. 12:5]your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16Or do you not know that he who is joined#6:16 Or who holds fast (compare Genesis 2:24 and Deuteronomy 10:20); also verse 17 to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, #Matt. 19:5; Mark 10:8; Eph. 5:31; Cited from Gen. 2:24“The two will become one flesh.” 17But he who is joined to the Lord #Eph. 4:4; [John 17:21-23]becomes one spirit with him. 18#2 Cor. 12:21; Eph. 5:3 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin#6:18 Or Every sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person #[Prov. 5:11]sins against his own body. 19Or #[John 2:21]; See ch. 3:16 do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? #See Rom. 14:7You are not your own, 20#ch. 7:23; [Acts 20:28; Heb. 9:12, 14]; See 2 Pet. 2:1 for you were bought with a price. #[Phil. 1:20]So glorify God in your body.

1 Corinthians 6

Taking each other to court
1When one of you has a complaint against another, do you take your complaint to a court of sinners? Or do you take it to God's people? 2Don't you know that God's people will judge the world? And if you are going to judge the world, can't you settle small problems? 3Don't you know that we will judge angels? And if that is so, we can surely judge everyday matters. 4Why do you take everyday complaints to judges who are not respected by the church? 5I say this to your shame. Aren't any of you wise enough to act as a judge between one follower and another? 6Why should one of you take another to be tried by unbelievers?
7When one of you takes another to court, all of you lose. It would be better to let yourselves be cheated and robbed. 8But instead, you cheat and rob other followers.
9Don't you know that evil people won't have a share in the blessings of God's kingdom? Don't fool yourselves! No one who is immoral or worships idols or is unfaithful in marriage or is a pervert or behaves like a homosexual 10will share in God's kingdom. Neither will any thief or greedy person or drunkard or anyone who curses and cheats others. 11Some of you used to be like that. But now the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and the power of God's Spirit have washed you and made you holy and acceptable to God.
Honour God with your body
12Some of you say, “We can do anything we want to.” But I tell you that not everything is good for us. So I refuse to let anything have power over me.#1 Co 10.23. 13You also say, “Food is meant for our bodies, and our bodies are meant for food.” But I tell you that God will destroy them both. We are not supposed to do indecent things with our bodies. We are to use them for the Lord who is in charge of our bodies. 14God will raise us from death by the same power that he used when he raised our Lord to life.
15Don't you know that your bodies are part of the body of Christ? Is it right for me to join part of the body of Christ to a prostitute? No, it isn't! 16Don't you know that a man who does that becomes part of her body? The Scriptures say, “The two of them will be like one person.”#Gn 2.24. 17But anyone who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit with him.
18Don't be immoral in matters of sex. That is a sin against your own body in a way that no other sin is. 19You know that your body is a temple where the Holy Spirit lives. The Spirit is in you and is a gift from God. You are no longer your own.#1 Co 3.16; 2 Co 6.16. 20God paid a great price for you. So use your body to honour God.
