PSALM 21
To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
1The king shall joy in thy strength, Jehovah; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice. 2Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah. 3For thou hast met him with the blessings of goodness; thou hast set a crown of pure gold on his head. 4He asked life of thee; thou gavest it him, length of days for ever and ever. 5His glory is great through thy salvation; majesty and splendour hast thou laid upon him. 6For thou hast made him to be blessings for ever; thou hast filled him with joy by thy countenance.
7For the king confideth in Jehovah: and through the loving-kindness of the Most High he shall not be moved. 8Thy hand shall find out all thine enemies; thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. 9Thou shalt make them as a fiery furnace in the time of thy presence; Jehovah shall swallow them up in his anger, and the fire shall devour them: 10Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men. 11For they intended evil against thee; they imagined a mischievous device, which they could not execute. 12For thou wilt make them turn their back; thou wilt make ready thy bowstring against their face. 13Be thou exalted, Jehovah, in thine own strength: we will sing and celebrate thy power.

The King Rejoices in the Lord’s Strength
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
1O Lord, in your #Ps. 8:2; 28:7, 8 strength the king rejoices,
and in your #Ps. 9:14salvation how greatly he exults!
2You have #Ps. 20:4, 5given him his heart’s desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
3For you #Ps. 59:10 meet him with rich blessings;
you set #[2 Sam. 12:30; 1 Chr. 20:2] a crown of #Ps. 19:10fine gold upon his head.
4He asked life of you; you #Ps. 61:6; [2 Sam. 7:19] gave it to him,
#
Ps. 91:16; [1 Kgs. 1:31; Neh. 2:3] length of days forever and ever.
5His #Ps. 8:5 glory is great through your salvation;
#
Ps. 45:3; 96:6 splendor and majesty you bestow on him.
6For you make him most blessed forever;#21:6 Or make him a source of blessing forever
you make him glad with the #Ps. 45:7; See Ps. 16:11joy of your presence.
7For the king trusts in the Lord,
and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be #Ps. 10:6; 16:8moved.
8Your hand will #[Isa. 10:10]find out all your enemies;
your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9You will make them as #Mal. 4:1; [Ps. 83:14] a blazing oven
when you appear.
The Lord will swallow them up in his #Ps. 2:5 wrath,
and #Ps. 18:8; 50:3; 97:3; Isa. 26:11; [Job 20:26; Dan. 7:10; Hab. 3:5]fire will consume them.
10You #Ps. 34:16; 1 Kgs. 13:34 will destroy their #Ps. 37:28; 109:13; Job 18:16, 17, 19; Isa. 14:20descendants from the earth,
and their offspring from among the children of man.
11Though they plan evil against you,
though they #Ps. 2:1; 10:2devise mischief, they will not succeed.
12For you will put them #Ps. 18:40 to flight;
you will #Ps. 7:12; 11:2aim at their faces with your bows.
13Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength!
We will sing and praise your power.
