Matthew 7

Concerning Judging Others
Lk. 6:37-38, 41-42
1 “Do not pass judgment, so that you will not be judged. 2 For with what judgment you pronounce, you will be judged, and with what measure you measure, it will be applied to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? 4 Or how will you say to your brother, ‘Permit me to take out the speck from your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First take out the log from your own eye, and then you will have clear vision to take out the speck from your brother’s eye.
6 “Do not give what is holy to dogs, nor throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them with their feet and, reversing, tear you to pieces.
Concerning Asking, Seeking, and Knocking
Lk. 11:9-13
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, it will be opened. 9 Or is there any man among you who, if his son requests bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or also, if he requests a fish, will give him a snake? 11 Therefore if you, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
12 Therefore, in all things, whatever you wish that men * would do to you, so also you do to them. For this is the Law and the Prophets.
Concerning the Narrow Gate
Lk. 13:24
13 “Enter through the narrow gate, because wide is the gate and spacious is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter through it, 14 because narrow is the gate and constricted is the way that leads to life, and few are those who find it.
A Tree and Its Fruit
Lk. 6:43-44
15 “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are rapacious wolves. 16 By their fruits, you will know them. Are grapes gathered from thorn-bushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Thus, every good tree yields good fruit, but a bad tree yields bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot yield bad fruit, nor a bad tree yield good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not yield good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Then, surely, by their fruits you will know them.
I Have Never Known You
Lk. 13:25-27
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day, many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many powerful deeds? 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I have never known you. Depart from Me, you who work lawlessness.’
The Two Foundations
Lk. 6:47-49
24 “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like the wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain came down, and the torrents came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it did not collapse, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like the foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain came down, and the torrents came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it collapsed, and its crash was great.”
28 Now it occurred that when Jesus finished these words, the crowds were struck with amazement at His teaching, 29 for He was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
