Laws about Sacrifice
1The LORD gave Moses 2the following regulations for the people of Israel to observe in the land that he was going to give them. 3A bull, a ram, a sheep, or a goat may be presented to the LORD as a burnt offering or as a sacrifice in fulfilment of a vow or as a freewill offering or as an offering at your regular religious festivals; the smell of these food offerings is pleasing to the LORD. 4-5Whoever presents a sheep or a goat as a burnt offering to the LORD is to bring with each animal a kilogramme of flour mixed with one litre of olive oil as a grain offering, together with one litre of wine. 6When a ram is offered, two kilogrammes of flour mixed with 1.5 litres of olive oil are to be presented as a grain offering, 7together with 1.5 litres of wine. The smell of these sacrifices is pleasing to the LORD. 8When a bull is offered to the LORD as a burnt offering or as a sacrifice in fulfilment of a vow or as a fellowship offering, 9a grain offering of three kilogrammes of flour mixed with two litres of olive oil is to be presented, 10together with two litres of wine. The smell of this sacrifice is pleasing to the LORD.
11That is what shall be offered with each bull, ram, sheep, or goat. 12When more than one animal is offered, the accompanying offering is to be increased proportionately. 13All native Israelites are to do this when they present a food offering, a smell pleasing to the LORD. 14And if at any time foreigners living among you, whether on a temporary or a permanent basis, make a food offering, a smell that pleases the LORD, they are to observe the same regulations. 15For all time to come, the same#15.15 Some ancient translations the same; Hebrew the congregation the same. rules are binding on you and on the foreigners who live among you. You and they are alike in the LORD's sight; 16#Lev 24.22the same laws and regulations apply to you and to them.
17The LORD gave Moses 18the following regulations for the people of Israel to observe in the land that he was going to give them. 19When any food produced there is eaten, some of it is to be set aside as a special contribution to the LORD. 20When you bake bread, the first loaf of the first bread made from the new corn is to be presented as a special contribution to the LORD. This is to be presented in the same way as the special contribution you make from the corn you thresh. 21For all time to come, this special gift is to be given to the LORD from the bread you bake.
22But suppose someone unintentionally fails to keep some of these regulations which the LORD has given Moses. 23And suppose that in the future the community fails to do everything that the LORD commanded through Moses. 24If the mistake was made because of the ignorance of the community, they are to offer a bull as a burnt offering, a smell that pleases the LORD, with the proper grain offering and wine offering. In addition, they are to offer a male goat as a sin offering. 25The priest shall perform the ritual of purification for the community, and they will be forgiven, because the mistake was unintentional and they brought their sin offering as a food offering to the LORD. 26The whole community of Israel and the foreigners living among them will be forgiven, because everyone was involved in the mistake.
27 #
Lev 4.27–31
If an individual sins unintentionally, he is to offer a one-year-old female goat as a sin offering. 28At the altar the priest shall perform the ritual of purification to purify the person from his sin, and he will be forgiven. 29The same regulation applies to all who unintentionally commit a sin, whether they are native Israelites or resident foreigners.
30But any person who sins deliberately, whether he is a native or a foreigner, is guilty of treating the LORD with contempt, and he shall be put to death, 31because he has rejected what the LORD said and has deliberately broken one of his commands. He is responsible for his own death.
The Man who Broke the Sabbath
32Once, while the Israelites were still in the wilderness, a man was found gathering firewood on the Sabbath. 33He was taken to Moses, Aaron, and the whole community, 34and was put under guard, because it was not clear what should be done with him. 35Then the LORD said to Moses, “The man must be put to death; the whole community is to stone him to death outside the camp.” 36So the whole community took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD had commanded.
Rules about Tassels
37The LORD commanded Moses 38#Deut 22.12to say to the people of Israel: “Make tassels on the corners of your garments and put a blue cord on each tassel. You are to do this for all time to come. 39The tassels will serve as reminders, and each time you see them you will remember all my commands and obey them; then you will not turn away from me and follow your own wishes and desires. 40The tassels will remind you to keep all my commands, and you will belong completely to me. 41I am the LORD your God; I brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD.”

Rules About Sacrifices
1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Speak to the people of Israel. Say to them, ‘You will enter a land that I am giving you as a home. 3There give the Lord offerings made by fire. These may be from your herds or flocks. And the smell will be pleasing to the Lord. These offerings may be burnt offerings or sacrifices for special promises. They may be offerings which are gifts to the Lord. Or they may be festival offerings. 4And the one who brings his offering shall also give the Lord a grain offering. It should be two quarts of fine flour mixed with one quart of olive oil. 5Each time you offer a lamb as a burnt offering or sacrifice, also prepare a quart of wine. This is a drink offering.
6“‘If you are giving a male sheep, also prepare a grain offering. It should be four quarts of fine flour mixed with one and one-fourth quarts of olive oil. 7Also prepare one and one-fourth quarts of wine. This is a drink offering. Offer it to the Lord. Its smell is pleasing to him.
8“‘You might prepare a young bull as a burnt offering or sacrifice. This might be for a fellowship offering or for a special promise to the Lord. 9Bring a grain offering with the bull. It should be six quarts of fine flour mixed with two quarts of olive oil. 10Also bring two quarts of wine as a drink offering. This offering is made by fire. And its smell will be pleasing to the Lord. 11Prepare each bull or male sheep, lamb or young goat this way. 12Do this for every one of the animals you bring.
13“‘All citizens must do these things in this way. And the smell of their offerings by fire will be pleasing to the Lord. 14From now on foreigners will live among you. They will make offerings by fire so the smell will be pleasing to the Lord. They must offer them the same way you do. 15The law is the same for you and for foreigners. It will be a law from now on. You and the foreigners are alike before the Lord. 16The teachings and rules are the same for you and for the foreigners among you.’”
17The Lord said to Moses, 18“Tell the Israelites: ‘You are going to another land. I am taking you there. 19When you eat the food there, offer part of it to the Lord. 20Offer a loaf of bread from the first of your grain. That will be your offering from the threshing floor. 21From now on offer to the Lord the first part of your grain.
22“‘Now what if you forget to obey any of these commands the Lord gave Moses? 23These are the Lord’s commands given to you through Moses. They began the day the Lord gave them to you. And they will continue from now on. 24But you might forget to obey one of these commands. The people might not remember the command. Then all the people must offer a young bull as a burnt offering. Its smell is pleasing to the Lord. By law you must also give the grain offering and the drink offering with it. And you must bring a male goat as a sin offering.
25“‘The priest will remove that sin for all the Israelites so they will belong to God. They are forgiven. They didn’t know they were sinning. For the wrong they did they brought offerings to the Lord. They brought an offering by fire and a sin offering. 26All of the people of Israel and the foreigners living among them will be forgiven. No one meant to do wrong.
27“‘Just one person might sin without meaning to. He must bring a year-old female goat for a sin offering. 28The priest will remove the sin of the person who sinned without meaning to. That person will belong to the Lord again. He will be forgiven. 29The same teaching is for everyone who sins without meaning to. It is the same for those born Israelites and for foreigners living among you.
30“‘But anyone who sins on purpose is against the Lord. That person must be separated from his people. It is the same for someone born among you or a foreigner. 31That person has turned against the Lord’s word. He has not obeyed the Lord’s commands. He must surely be separated from the others. He is guilty.’”
A Man Worked on the Sabbath
32This happened when the Israelites were still in the desert. They found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day. 33Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and all the people. 34They held the man under guard. They did not know what to do with him. 35Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must die. All the people must kill him with stones outside the camp.” 36So the people took him outside the camp. They killed him with stones as the Lord commanded Moses.
The Tassels
37The Lord said to Moses, 38“Speak to the Israelites. Tell them this: ‘Tie several pieces of thread together. And tie them to the corners of your clothes. Put a blue thread in each one of these tassels. Wear them from now on. 39You will have these tassels to look at. They will remind you of the Lord’s commands. Then you will obey them. And you won’t follow what your bodies want and what your eyes wish for. 40Remember to obey all my commands. Then you will be God’s holy people. 41I am the Lord your God. I brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God.’”
