Psalms 1
1
Book 1
(Psalms 1-41)
1Great blessings belong to those
who don’t listen to evil advice,
who don’t live like sinners,
and who don’t join those who make fun of God.#1:1 Or “The one who does not follow the advice of the wicked or turn onto Sinners Road or stay at Scoffers’ House is blessed.”
2Instead, they love the Lord’s teachings
and think about them day and night.
3So they grow strong,
like a tree planted by a stream—
a tree that produces fruit when it should
and has leaves that never fall.
Everything they do is successful.
4But the wicked are not like that.
They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
5When the time for judgment comes, the wicked will be found guilty.
Sinners have no place among those who do what is right.#1:5 Or “The wicked will not be allowed to sit as judges nor sinners in the meeting of good people.”
6The Lord shows his people how to live,
but the wicked have lost their way.

Psalm 1
1
1 Blessed is the man who has not followed the counsel of the impious, and has not remained in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the chair of pestilence.
2 But his will is with the law of the Lord, and he will meditate on his law, day and night.
3 And he will be like a tree that has been planted beside running waters, which will provide its fruit in its time, and its leaf will not fall away, and all things whatsoever that he does will prosper.
4 Not so the impious, not so. For they are like the dust that the wind casts along the face of the earth.
5 Therefore, the impious will not prevail again in judgment, nor sinners in the council of the just.
6 For the Lord knows the way of the just. And the path of the impious will pass away.
