Psalms 14

14
Psalm 14
Denunciation of Godlessness
To the leader. Of David.
1 # Ps 10.4; 53.1–6; 73.8; Rom 3.10–12 Fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt; they do abominable deeds;
there is no one who does good.
2 # Ezra 6.21; Ps 33.13; 92.6 The Lord looks down from heaven on humankind
to see if there are any who are wise,
who seek after God.
3 # Ps 58.3; 143.2; 2 Pet 2.7; Rev 22.11 They have all gone astray; they are all alike perverse;
there is no one who does good,
no, not one.
4 # Ps 27.2; 79.6; 82.5; Isa 64.7 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers
who eat up my people as they eat bread
and do not call upon the Lord?
5 # Ps 73.15 There they shall be in great terror,
for God is with the company of the righteous.
6 # Ps 9.9; 40.17 You would confound the plans of the poor,
but the Lord is their refuge.
7 # Job 42.10; Ps 53.6 O that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion!
When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people,
Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.
