Tehillim (Psalms) 9
9
1Aleph I praise You, O יהוה, with all my heart; I declare all Your wonders.
2I rejoice and exult in You; I sing praise to Your Name, O Most High.
3Bĕt When my enemies turn back, They stumble and perish before You.
4For You executed my right and my cause, You sat on the throne judging in righteousness.
5Gimel You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wrong, You have wiped out their name forever and ever.
6Hĕ The enemy is no more – ruins everlasting! And You have uprooted the cities; Even their remembrance has perished.
7But יהוה abides forever, He is preparing His throne for judgment.
8And He judges the world in righteousness, He judges the peoples in straightness.
9Waw And יהוה is a refuge for the crushed one, A refuge in times of distress.
10And those who know Your Name trust in You, For You have not forsaken those who seek You, O יהוה.
11Zayin Sing praises to יהוה, who dwells in Tsiyon! Declare His deeds among the peoples.
12For He remembers the seekers of bloodshed, He does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
13Ḥet Show favour to me, O יהוה! See my affliction by those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death,
14So that I declare all Your praise In the gates of the daughter of Tsiyon. I rejoice in Your deliverance.
15Tet The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught.
16יהוה has made Himself known, He has done right-ruling; The wrong is snared in the work of his own hands. Meditation. Selah.
17Yod The wrong return to She’ol, All the nations that forget Elohim.
18Kaph For the needy is not always forgotten; Neither the expectancy of the poor lost forever.
19Arise, O יהוה, Do not let man prevail; Let the nations be judged before Your face.
20Put them in fear, O יהוה, Let the nations know they are but men. Selah.

Psalm 9
For the choir director; according to muth labben; #9:0 Or “almuth labben”; unknown musical term. a psalm by David.#9:0 Some Hebrew manuscripts, Greek, and Latin treat Psalms 9 and 10 as one psalm.
1I will give ⌞you⌟ thanks, O Lord, with all my heart.
I will tell about all the miracles you have done.
2I will find joy and be glad about you.
I will make music to praise your name, O Most High.
3When my enemies retreat, they will stumble and die in your presence.
4You have defended my just cause:
You sat down on your throne as a fair judge.
5You condemned nations.
You destroyed wicked people.
You wiped out their names forever and ever.
6The enemy is finished—in ruins forever.
You have uprooted their cities.
Even the memory of them has faded.
7Yet, the Lord is enthroned forever.
He has set up his throne for judgment.
8He alone judges the world with righteousness.
He judges ⌞its⌟ people fairly.
9The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
10Those who know your name trust you, O Lord,
because you have never deserted those who seek your help.
11Make music to praise the Lord, who is enthroned in Zion.
Announce to the nations what he has done.
12The one who avenges murder has remembered oppressed people.
He has never forgotten their cries.
13Have pity on me, O Lord.
Look at what I suffer because of those who hate me.
You take me away from the gates of death
14so that I may recite your praises one by one
in the gates of Zion
and find joy in your salvation.
15The nations have sunk into the pit they have made.
Their feet are caught in the net they have hidden ⌞to trap others⌟.
16The Lord is known by the judgment he has carried out.
The wicked person is trapped
by the work of his own hands. Higgaion Selah
17Wicked people, all the nations who forget God,
will return to the grave.
18Needy people will not always be forgotten.
Nor will the hope of oppressed people be lost forever.
19Arise, O Lord.
Do not let mortals gain any power.
Let the nations be judged in your presence.
20Strike them with terror, O Lord.
Let the nations know that they are ⌞only⌟ mortal. Selah
