Job: God is Awesome
1Then Job responded and said:
2“How you have helped the powerless! How you have saved the arm without strength!
3How you have counseled the one without wisdom and revealed your abundant insights!
4To whom have you uttered words? Whose spirit has come from your mouth?
5“The dead tremble— those beneath the water and all that live in them.
6Sheol is naked before Him; Abaddon has no covering.
7He stretches out the north over the void; He suspends the earth over nothing.
8He wraps up the waters in His clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under them.
9He covers the face of the full moon, spreading His clouds over it.
10He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters, for a boundary between light and dark.
11The pillars of heaven tremble, astounded at His rebuke!
12By His power He churns up the sea; by His understanding He smashed Rahab.
13By His Ruach the heavens are clear; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.
14Indeed, these are but glimpses of His ways; how faint the whisper, we hear of Him! Who then can understand the thunder of His might?”

Job Replies: God’s Majesty Is Unsearchable
1Then Job answered and said:
2“How you have #Isa. 40:29 helped him who has no power!
How you have saved #Gen. 49:24; Hos. 7:15the arm that has no strength!
3How you have #Ps. 73:24; James 1:5counseled him who has no wisdom,
and plentifully declared sound knowledge!
4With whose help have you uttered words,
and whose breath #Gen. 2:7has come out from you?
5The #Ps. 88:10dead tremble
under the waters and their inhabitants.
6Sheol is #Ps. 139:8; Prov. 15:11 naked before God,#26:6 Hebrew him
and #Rev. 9:11Abaddon has no covering.
7He #See ch. 9:8 stretches out the north over #[Gen. 1:2]the void
and hangs the earth on nothing.
8He #Prov. 30:4binds up the waters in his thick clouds,
and the cloud is not split open under them.
9He covers the face of the full moon#26:9 Or his throne
and #[ch. 36:29]spreads over it his cloud.
10He has inscribed #Prov. 8:29; [ch. 38:8-11; Ps. 33:7; Jer. 5:22]a circle on the face of the waters
at the boundary between light and darkness.
11 # ch. 9:6; Ps. 75:3 The pillars of heaven tremble
and are astounded at his #Ps. 104:7rebuke.
12By his power he #Isa. 51:15; Jer. 31:35 stilled the sea;
by his understanding he shattered #See ch. 9:13Rahab.
13 # [Ps. 33:6] By his wind the heavens were made fair;
his hand pierced #Isa. 27:1the fleeing serpent.
14Behold, these are but the outskirts of his #ch. 40:19 ways,
and how small #ch. 4:12a whisper do we hear of him!
But the thunder of his power who can understand?”
