Psalms 30
30
A Psalm. A Song for the Dedication of the Temple. By David.
1I will extol you, Yahweh, for you have raised me up,
and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2Yahweh my God, I cried to you,
and you have healed me.
3Yahweh, you have brought up my soul from Sheol.#30:3 Sheol is the place of the dead.
You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
4Sing praise to Yahweh, you saints of his.
Give thanks to his holy name.
5For his anger is but for a moment.
His favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may stay for the night,
but joy comes in the morning.
6As for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I shall never be moved.”
7You, Yahweh, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong;
but when you hid your face, I was troubled.
8I cried to you, Yahweh.
I made supplication to the Lord:
9“What profit is there in my destruction, if I go down to the pit?
Shall the dust praise you?
Shall it declare your truth?
10Hear, Yahweh, and have mercy on me.
Yahweh, be my helper.”
11You have turned my mourning into dancing for me.
You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,
12to the end that my heart may sing praise to you, and not be silent.
Yahweh my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Psalms 30

Psalm 30#In Hebrew texts 30:1-12 is numbered 30:2-13.
A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the temple.#Title: Or palace Of David.
1I will exalt you, Lord,
for you lifted me out of the depths
and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
2 Lord my God, I called to you for help,
and you healed me.
3You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead;
you spared me from going down to the pit.
4Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
praise his holy name.
5For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
6When I felt secure, I said,
“I will never be shaken.”
7 Lord, when you favored me,
you made my royal mountain#30:7 That is, Mount Zion stand firm;
but when you hid your face,
I was dismayed.
8To you, Lord, I called;
to the Lord I cried for mercy:
9“What is gained if I am silenced,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
10Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me;
Lord, be my help.”
11You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
12that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will praise you forever.
