1 # 10.1 Gr. She. Wisdom guarded to the end #ch. 7.1.the first formed father of the world, #Gen. 2.18. Cp. 1 Tim. 2.13.that was created alone,
And delivered him out of his own transgression,
2And #See Gen. 1.28.gave him strength to get dominion over all things.
3But #See Gen. 4.8-13.when an unrighteous man fell away from her in his anger,
He perished himself in the rage wherewith he slew his brother.
4And when for his cause #See Gen. 7.21-23.the earth was drowning with a flood,
# Cp. ch. 9.18. Wisdom again saved it,
Guiding #See Gen. 7.1.the righteous man's course #Cp. ch. 14.5.by a poor piece of wood.
5Moreover, #Cp. Gen. 11.9.when nations consenting together in wickedness had been confounded,
# 10.5 Gr. She. Wisdom #Cp. Gen. 12.1.knew the righteous man, and preserved him blameless unto God,
And #Ecclus. 44.20. Cp. Gen. 22.9.kept him strong when his heart yearned toward his child.
6While #Gen. 19.16,17,22.the ungodly were perishing, #10.6 Gr. She.wisdom delivered #ch. 19.17 2Pet. 2.7.a righteous man,
When he fled from the fire that descended out of heaven #Cp. Gen. 10.19 & Deut. 29.23.on #10.6 That is the region of the five cities.Pentapolis.
7To whose wickedness a smoking waste still witnesseth,
And plants bearing fair fruit that cometh not to ripeness;
Yea and a #10.7 Or distrustfuldisbelieving soul hath a memorial there, #Gen. 19.26.a pillar of salt still standing.
8For having passed wisdom by,
Not only were they disabled from recognising the things which are good,
But they also left behind them #10.8 Or by their lifefor human life a monument of their folly;
To the end that #10.8 Gr. wherein.where they #10.8 Gr. stumbled.went astray they might fail even to be unseen:
9But wisdom delivered out of troubles those that waited on her.

Gen. 28.10. See Gen. 27.42-45. When a righteous man was a fugitive from a brother's wrath, #10.10 Gr. She.wisdom guided him in straight paths;

She shewed them also to be false that had mockingly accused him,

15 # 10.15 Gr. She. Wisdom #Ex. 1.12 & 12.41.delivered #ch. 18.1.a holy people and a blameless seed #See Ex. 1.11-14.from a nation of oppressors.
16 # Cp. Ex. 3.12. She entered into the soul of #Ex. 14.31. Num. 12.7. Deut. 34.5, al.a servant of the Lord,
And #Ex. 5.1 & 7.10,16. Ps. 105.26,27,30.withstood terrible kings #ch. 8.8.in wonders and signs.
17She rendered unto holy men #Cp. Ex. 12.35,36.a reward of their toils;
She guided them along a marvellous way,
# See Ex. 13.21. And became unto them a covering in the day-time,
And a flame of stars through the night.
18 # See Ex. 14.21,22. She brought them over the Red sea,
And led them through much water;
19 # ch. 18.5. See Ex. 14.27. But their enemies she drowned,
And out of the bottom of the deep she cast them up.

Ex. 12.36. Therefore the righteous spoiled the ungodly;
# See Ex. 15.1-18. And they sang praise to thy holy name, O Lord,
And extolled with one accord thy hand that fought for them:
21Because wisdom opened #Cp. Ex. 4.10.the mouth of the dumb,
And made #Cp. Ps. 8.2 & Mat. 21.16.the tongues of babes #Cp. ch. 7.22.to speak clearly.
