Psalm 131
A Childlike Spirit
A song of ascents. Of David.
1 Lord, my heart is not proud;
my eyes are not haughty.#Ps 101:5; Rm 12:16
I do not get involved with things
too great or too wondrous for me.#Jb 42:3; Ps 139:6
2Instead, I have calmed and quieted my soul
like a weaned child with its mother;
my soul is like a weaned child.#Mt 18:3; 1Co 14:20
3Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
both now and forever.#Ps 130:7

Psalms 131
131
A Prayer of Humble Trust#Ps 131 Hebrew title: By David.
1 LORD, I have given up my pride
and turned away from my arrogance.
I am not concerned with great matters
or with subjects too difficult for me.
2Instead, I am content and at peace.
As a child lies quietly in its mother's arms,
so my heart is quiet within me.
3Israel, trust in the LORD
now and for ever!
