He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee was standing and praying like this about himself: ‘God, I thank you that I’m not like other people #— #greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give a tenth , of everything I get.’ “But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven but kept striking his chest and saying, ‘God, have mercy on me, , a sinner! ’ I tell you, this one went down to his house justified rather than the other, because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” People were bringing infants to him so that he might touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. Jesus, however, invited them: “Let the little children come to me, and don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

Compare All Versions: Luke 18:9-17
3 Days
I want to be truly justified before God, rather than getting my strokes from people, or my self-appreciating comparisons, don’t you? So, how about joining me for a few days as I explore the subject of spiritual pride and let’s figure out what the Lord has to say about it? I do believe it is something that can slip into our life without us even knowing it.
Do you believe it? Let's explore the goodness of God in this 3-part dynamic Bible Teaching through the book of Luke with Aaron Lopez.
In Luke 18, Jesus illustrates three ways to approach God. Let’s take a look and consider, how do we pray?
This is part 2 of 4 in the Feed Middle School series Unboxed: Created in God's Image. This plan unpacks Lesson 2: Changed Forever. Jesus calls us to live with a different perspective than the world around us—to be transformed by him instead of conformed to the world. Comparison threatens to ruin this, but by God’s strength, we can be transformed.
