PSALM 87
The Privileges of Citizenship in Zion.
A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song.
1His foundation is on the holy mountain.
2The Lord loves the gates of Zion
More than all the dwellings of Jacob (Israel).
3Glorious things are spoken of you,
O city of God [Jerusalem]. Selah.
4“I will mention Rahab (Egypt) and Babylon among those who know Me—
Behold, Philistia and Tyre with Ethiopia (Cush)—
‘This one was born there.’ ”
5But of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one were born in her,”
And the Most High Himself will establish her.
6The Lord will count, when He registers the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah.
7The singers as well as the players of flutes will say,
“All my springs and sources of joy are in you [Jerusalem, city of God].”

Psalm 87
By Korah’s descendants; a psalm; a song.
1 ⌞The city⌟ the Lord has founded ⌞stands⌟ on holy mountains.
2The Lord loves the city of Zion
more than any other place in Jacob.
3Glorious things are said about you, O city of God! Selah
4 ⌞The Lord says,⌟ “I will add Egypt and Babylon
as well as Philistia, Tyre, and Sudan
to the list of those who acknowledge me.
Each nation ⌞will claim that it⌟ was born there.”
5But it will be said of Zion,
“Every race is born in it.
The Most High will make it secure.”
6The Lord will record this in the Book of Nations:
“Every race ⌞claims that it⌟ was born there.” Selah
7Singers and dancers will sing,
“Zion is the source of all our blessings.”
