Psalms 103
103
PSALM 103
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
A Psalm of David.
1O thou my soul, bless God the Lord;
and all that in me is
Be stirred up his holy name
to magnify and bless.
2Bless, O my soul, the Lord thy God,
and not forgetful be
Of all his gracious benefits
he hath bestow'd on thee.
3All thine iniquities who doth
most graciously forgive:
Who thy diseases all and pains doth heal,
and thee relieve.
4Who doth redeem thy life, that thou
to death may'st not go down;
Who thee with loving-kindness doth
and tender mercies crown:
5Who with abundance of good things
doth satisfy thy mouth;
So that, ev'n as the eagle's age,
renewed is thy youth.
6God righteous judgment executes
for all oppressed ones.
7His ways to Moses, he his acts
made known to Isr'el's sons.
8The Lord our God is merciful,
and he is gracious,
Long-suffering, and slow to wrath,
in mercy plenteous.
9He will not chide continually,
nor keep his anger still.
10With us he dealt not as we sinn'd,
nor did requite our ill.
11For as the heaven in its height
the earth surmounteth far;
So great to those that do him fear
his tender mercies are:
12As far as east is distant from
the west, so far hath he
From us removed, in his love,
all our iniquity.
13Such pity as a father hath
unto his children dear;
Like pity shews the Lord to such
as worship him in fear.
14For he remembers we are dust,
and he our frame well knows.
15Frail man, his days are like the grass,
as flow'r in field he grows:
16For over it the wind doth pass,
and it away is gone;
And of the place where once it was
it shall no more be known.
17But unto them that do him fear
God's mercy never ends;
And to their children's children still
his righteousness extends:
18To such as keep his covenant,
and mindful are alway
Of his most just commandements,
that they may them obey.
19The Lord prepared hath his throne
in heavens firm to stand;
And ev'ry thing that being hath
his kingdom doth command.
20O ye his angels, that excel
in strength, bless ye the Lord;
Ye who obey what he commands,
and hearken to his word.
21O bless and magnify the Lord,
ye glorious hosts of his;
Ye ministers, that do fulfil
whate'er his pleasure is.
22O bless the Lord, all ye his works,
wherewith the world is stor'd
In his dominions ev'ry where.
My soul, bless thou the Lord.

Psalm 103
103
Bless the Lord, O My Soul
Of David.
1 # ver. 22; Ps. 104:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 # [See ver. 1 above] Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and #Deut. 6:12; 8:11forget not all his benefits,
3who #Ex. 34:7; Isa. 33:24; Matt. 9:2; Mark 2:5; [Luke 7:47] forgives all your iniquity,
who #Ps. 107:20; 147:3; Ex. 15:26; [Matt. 8:17]heals all your diseases,
4who #See Ps. 56:13 redeems your life from the pit,
who #[Ps. 5:12]crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5who #Ps. 107:9 satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like #Isa. 40:31the eagle’s.
6The Lord works #Ps. 146:7righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7He made known his #Ex. 33:13; [Ps. 25:4] ways to Moses,
his #[Ps. 78:11; Ex. 34:10]acts to the people of Israel.
8The Lord is #See Ps. 86:15merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 #
Isa. 57:16 He will not always chide,
nor will he #Ps. 30:5; Jer. 3:5, 12; Mic. 7:18keep his anger forever.
10He does not deal with us #Ezra 9:13according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11For #See Ps. 36:5 as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his #Ps. 117:2 steadfast love toward #ver. 13, 17; Luke 1:50those who fear him;
12as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he #[Isa. 38:17; 43:25; Mic. 7:19]remove our transgressions from us.
13As #Mal. 3:17 a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion #[See ver. 11 above]to those who fear him.
14For he knows our frame;#103:14 Or knows how we are formed
he #Ps. 78:39remembers that we are dust.
15As for man, his days are like #Ps. 90:5 grass;
he flourishes like #See Job 14:2a flower of the field;
16for #Isa. 40:7 the wind passes over it, and #Ps. 37:36 it is gone,
and #See Job 7:10its place knows it no more.
17But #Ps. 25:6 the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on #[See ver. 11 above] those who fear him,
and his righteousness to #Ex. 20:5, 6children’s children,
18to those who #Deut. 7:9 keep his covenant
and #Ps. 19:8remember to do his commandments.
19The Lord has #Ps. 11:4; 93:2 established his throne in the heavens,
and his #Ps. 47:2; Dan. 4:17kingdom rules over all.
20Bless the Lord, O you #Ps. 148:2; [Luke 2:13] his angels,
you #Ps. 78:25 mighty ones who #Matt. 6:10do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
21Bless the Lord, all his #Gen. 32:2; Josh. 5:14; 1 Kgs. 22:19 hosts,
his #Ps. 104:4; Dan. 7:10; Heb. 1:14ministers, who do his will!
22 #
Ps. 145:10 Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
# ver. 1, 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul!
