Tehillim (Psa) 57
57
1For the leader. Set to “Do Not Destroy.” By David, a mikhtam, when he fled from Sha’ul into the cave:
2Show me favor, God, show me favor;
for in you I have taken refuge.
Yes, I will find refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the storms have passed.
3I call to God, the Most High,
to God, who is accomplishing his purpose for me.
4He will send from heaven and save me
when those who would trample me down mock me. (Selah)
God will send his grace and his truth.
5I am surrounded by lions,
I am lying down among people breathing fire,
men whose teeth are spears and arrows
and their tongues sharp-edged swords.
6Be exalted, God, above heaven!
May your glory be over all the earth!
7They prepared a snare for my feet,
but I am bending over [to avoid it].
They dug a pit ahead of me,
but they fell into it themselves. (Selah)
8My heart is steadfast, God, steadfast.
I will sing and make music.
9Awake, my glory! Awake, lyre and lute!
I will awaken the dawn.
10I will thank you, Adonai, among the peoples;
I will make music to you among the nations.
11For your grace is great, all the way to heaven,
and your truth, all the way to the skies.
12Be exalted, God, above heaven!
May your glory be over all the earth!

Psalm 57
For the choir director; al tashcheth; #57:0 Unknown musical term. a miktam by David when he fled from Saul into the cave.
1Have pity on me, O God. Have pity on me,
because my soul takes refuge in you.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until destructive storms pass by.
2I call to God Most High,
to the God who does everything for me.
3He sends his help from heaven and saves me.
He disgraces the one who is harassing me. Selah
God sends his mercy and his truth!
4My soul is surrounded by lions.
I must lie down with man-eating lions.
Their teeth are spears and arrows.
Their tongues are sharp swords.
5May you be honored above the heavens, O God.
Let your glory extend over the whole earth.
6 ⌞My enemies⌟ spread out a net to catch me.
(My soul is bowed down.)
They dug a pit to trap me,
but then they fell into it. Selah
7My heart is confident, O God.
My heart is confident.
I want to sing and make music.#57:7 Verses 7–11 are virtually identical in wording to Psalm 108:1–5.
8Wake up, my soul! #57:8 Or “my glory.”
Wake up, harp and lyre!
I want to wake up at dawn.
9I want to give thanks to you among the people, O Lord.
I want to make music to praise you among the nations
10because your mercy is as high as the heavens.
Your truth reaches the skies.
11May you be honored above the heavens, O God.
Let your glory extend over the whole earth.
