1 Corinthians (1 Co) 5
5
1It is actually being reported that there is sexual sin among you, and it is sexual sin of a kind that is condemned even by pagans — a man is living with his stepmother! 2And you stay proud? Shouldn’t you rather have felt some sadness that would have led you to remove from your company the man who has done this thing? 3For I myself, even though I am absent physically, am with you spiritually; and I have already judged the man who has done this as if I were present. 4In the name of the Lord Yeshua, when you are assembled, with me present spiritually and the power of our Lord Yeshua among us, 5hand over such a person to the Adversary for his old nature to be destroyed, so that his spirit may be saved in the Day of the Lord.
6Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know the saying, “It takes only a little hametz to leaven a whole batch of dough?” 7Get rid of the old hametz, so that you can be a new batch of dough, because in reality you are unleavened. For our Pesach lamb, the Messiah, has been sacrificed. 8So let us celebrate the Seder not with leftover hametz, the hametz of wickedness and evil, but with the matzah of purity and truth.
9In my earlier letter I wrote you not to associate with people who engage in sexual immorality. 10I didn’t mean the sexually immoral people outside your community, or the greedy, or the thieves or the idol-worshippers — for then you would have to leave the world altogether! 11No, what I wrote you was not to associate with anyone who is supposedly a brother but who also engages in sexual immorality, is greedy, worships idols, is abusive, gets drunk or steals. With such a person you shouldn’t even eat! 12For what business is it of mine to judge outsiders? Isn’t it those who are part of the community that you should be judging? 13God will judge those who are outside. Just expel the evildoer from among yourselves.

Immorality Defiles the Church
1It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s #Lev. 18:6–8; Deut. 22:30; 27:20wife! 2#1 Cor. 4:18And you are puffed up, and have not rather #2 Cor. 7:7–10mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3#Col. 2:5; 1 Thess. 2:17For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. 4In the #(Matt. 18:20)name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, #(Matt. 16:19; John 20:23); 2 Cor. 12:9with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5#Ps. 109:6; Prov. 23:14; Luke 22:31; 1 Tim. 1:20deliver such a one to #(Acts 26:18)Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6#1 Cor. 3:21Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that #Hos. 7:4; Matt. 16:6, 12; Gal. 5:9; 2 Tim. 2:17a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed #Is. 53:7Christ, our #John 19:14Passover, was sacrificed for us. 8Therefore #Ex. 12:15let us keep the feast, #Deut. 16:3not with old leaven, nor #Matt. 16:6with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Immorality Must Be Judged
9I wrote to you in my epistle #2 Cor. 6:14; Eph. 5:11; 2 Thess. 3:6not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go #John 17:15out of the world. 11But now I have written to you not to keep company #Matt. 18:17with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—#Gal. 2:12not even to eat with such a person.
12For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13But those who are outside God judges. Therefore #Deut. 13:5; 17:7, 12; 19:19; 21:21; 22:21, 24; 24:7; 1 Cor. 5:2“put away from yourselves the evil person.”
