1آنگاه عیسی دوازده شاگردش را نزد خود فرا خواند و آنان را اقتدار بخشید تا ارواح پلید را بیرون کنند و هر درد و بیماری را شفا دهند. 2این است نامهای دوازده رسول: نخست، شَمعون معروف به پطرس و برادرش آندریاس؛ یعقوب پسر زِبِدی و برادرش یوحنا؛ 3فیلیپُس و بَرتولْما؛ توما و مَتّای خَراجگیر؛ یعقوب پسر حَلْفای و تَدّای؛ 4شَمعون غیور و یهودای اَسخَریوطی که عیسی را تسلیم دشمن کرد.
5عیسی این دوازده تن را فرستاد و به آنان فرمود: «نزد غیریهودیان مروید و به هیچیک از شهرهای سامِریان داخل مشوید، 6بلکه نزد گوسفندانِ گمشدۀ قوم اسرائیل بروید. 7هنگامی که میروید، این پیام را موعظه کنید که پادشاهی آسمان نزدیک شده است. 8بیماران را شفا دهید، مردگان را زنده کنید، جذامیها#10:8 جذامیها از نظر شرع، نجس محسوب میشدند و لازم بود پاک شوند تا بتوانند به جمع مردم راه یابند. اصل یونانی این واژه لزوماً به معنی جذام نیست بلکه انواع بیماریهای پوستی را نیز در بر میگیرد. را پاک سازید، دیوها را بیرون کنید. به رایگان یافتهاید، به رایگان هم بدهید. 9هیچ طلا یا نقره یا مس در کمربندهایتان با خود نبرید 10و برای سفر، کولهبار یا پیراهن اضافی یا کفش یا چوبدستی برندارید؛ زیرا کارگر مستحق مایحتاج خویش است. 11به هر شهر یا روستایی که داخل میشوید، فردی شایسته بجویید و تا هنگام ترک آن محل، در خانهاش بمانید. 12چون به خانهای درمیآیید، بگویید ”سلام بر شما.“ 13اگر آن خانه شایسته باشد، سلام شما بر آن قرار میگیرد و اگر نه، به شما بازمیگردد. 14اگر کسی شما را نپذیرد و یا به سخنانتان گوش نسپارد، به هنگام ترکِ آن خانه یا شهر، خاک پایهای خود را بتکانید. 15آمین، به شما میگویم، در روز داوری، تحمل مجازات برای سُدوم و غُمورَّه آسانتر خواهد بود تا برای آن شهر.
16«من شما را همانند گوسفندان به میان گرگان میفرستم. پس همچون مارْ هوشیار باشید و مانند کبوترْ ساده.#10:16 یا ”معصوم“. 17از مردم برحذر باشید. آنان شما را به محاکم خواهند سپرد و در کنیسههای خود تازیانه خواهند زد. 18بهخاطر من شما را نزد والیان و پادشاهان خواهند برد تا در برابر آنان و در میان قومهای جهان شهادت دهید. 19امّا چون شما را تسلیم کنند، نگران نباشید که چگونه یا چه بگویید. در آن زمان آنچه باید بگویید به شما عطا خواهد شد. 20زیرا گوینده شما نیستید، بلکه روحِ پدر شماست که به زبان شما سخن خواهد گفت. 21برادر، برادر را و پدر، فرزند را تسلیم مرگ خواهد کرد. فرزندان بر والدین بر خواهند خاست و موجبات قتل آنها را فراهم خواهند آورد. 22همۀ مردم بهخاطر نام من از شما متنفر خواهند بود. امّا هر که تا به پایان پایدار بماند، نجات خواهد یافت. 23چون در شهری به شما آزار رسانند، به شهری دیگر بگریزید. آمین، به شما میگویم، که پیش از آنکه بتوانید به همۀ شهرهای اسرائیل بروید، پسر انسان خواهد آمد.
24«شاگرد از استاد خود برتر نیست و نه غلام از ارباب خود والاتر. 25شاگرد را کافی است که مانند استاد خود شود و غلام را که همچون ارباب خود گردد. اگر رئیس خانه را بِعِلزِبول#10:25 ”بِعِلزِبول“ نام دیگری است برای ”شیطان“. خواندند، سایر افراد خانه را چه خواهند خواند؟
26«بنابراین، از آنان مترسید. هیچ چیزِ پنهان نیست که آشکار نشود و هیچ چیزِ پوشیده نیست که عیان نگردد. 27آنچه در تاریکی به شما گفتم، در روشنایی بیان کنید و آنچه در گوشتان گفته شد، از فراز بامها اعلام نمایید. 28از کسانی که جسم را میکشند امّا قادر به کشتن روح نیستند، مترسید؛ از او بترسید که قادر است هم روح و هم جسم شما را در جهنم هلاک کند. 29آیا دو گنجشک را به یک پول سیاه#10:29 ”پول سیاه“ ترجمۀ واژۀ یونانی ”اَسَریون“ است که کوچکترین واحد پول و کمبهاترین سکۀ رایج آن زمان بود. نمیفروشند؟ با این همه، حتی یک گنجشک نیز بدون خواست پدر شما به زمین نمیافتد. 30حتی موهای سر شما به تمامی شمرده شده است. 31پس مترسید، زیرا ارزش شما بیش از هزاران گنجشک است.
32«هر که نزد مردم مرا اقرار کند، من نیز در حضور پدر خود که در آسمان است، او را اقرار خواهم کرد؛ 33امّا هر که مرا نزد مردم انکار کند، من نیز در حضور پدر خود که در آسمان است، او را انکار خواهم کرد.
34«گمان مبرید که آمدهام تا صلح به زمین بیاورم. نیامدهام تا صلح بیاورم، بلکه تا شمشیر بیاورم! 35زیرا آمدهام تا:
«”پسر را بر پدر،
دختر را بر مادر و
عروس را بر مادرشوهرش برانگیزانم.
36دشمنان شخص، اهل خانۀ خودش خواهند بود.“#میکاه ۷:۶.
37«هر که پدر یا مادر خود را بیش از من دوست بدارد، شایستۀ من نباشد؛ و هر که پسر یا دختر خود را بیش از من دوست بدارد، شایستۀ من نباشد. 38هر که صلیب خود را برنگیرد و از پی من نیاید، شایستۀ من نباشد. 39هر که بخواهد جان خود را حفظ کند، آن را از دست خواهد داد و هر که جان خود را بهخاطر من از دست بدهد، آن را حفظ خواهد کرد.
40«هر که شما را بپذیرد، مرا پذیرفته و کسی که مرا پذیرفت، فرستندۀ مرا پذیرفته است. 41هر که پیامبری را از آن رو که پیامبر است بپذیرد، پاداش پیامبر را دریافت خواهد کرد، و هر که پارسایی را از آن رو که پارساست بپذیرد، پاداش پارسا را خواهد گرفت. 42هر که به این کوچکان، از آن رو که شاگرد منند، حتی جامی آب سرد بدهد، آمین، به شما میگویم، بیپاداش نخواهد ماند.»

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Apostles

Have No Fear

Not Peace, but a Sword
