Psalms 9

9
For the Music Director. To the melody of “The Death of the Son.” A Psalm of David.
1I will give thanks to You, O  Lord, with my whole heart;
I will declare all Your marvelous works. # Ps 26:7; 86:12
2I will be glad and rejoice in You; # Ps 5:11
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. # Ps 83:18
3When my enemies are turned back,
they will stumble and perish at Your presence.
4For You have maintained my right and my cause; # Ps 140:12
You sat on the throne judging what is right. # 1Pe 2:23
5You have rebuked the nations,
You have destroyed the wicked,
You have wiped out their name # Dt 9:14; Pr 10:7 forever and ever.
6O enemy, destructions are finished forever!
You have destroyed cities;
even the memory of them has perished.
7But the Lord remains forever;
He has established His throne for judgment.
8He will judge the world in righteousness;
He will give judgment to the peoples in uprightness. # Ps 96:13; 98:9
9The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
a refuge in times of trouble. # Ps 32:7; Pr 18:10
10Those who know Your name will put their trust in You, # Ps 91:14
for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
11Sing praises to the Lord who dwells in Zion; # Ps 76:2
declare His deeds among the people. # Ps 107:22
12He who avenges deaths remembers them; # Ge 9:5
He does not forget the cry of the humble.
13Be gracious to me, O  Lord; consider my trouble from those who hate me,
O You who lifts me up from the gates of death, # Ps 30:3; 86:13
14that I may recount all Your praise
in the gates of the daughter of Zion,
that I may rejoice in Your salvation. # Ps 13:5; 20:5
15The nations have sunk down in the pit that they made; # Ps 7:15–16
their own foot is caught in the net which they hid. # Ps 57:6
16The Lord is known by the judgment that He executes; # Ex 7:5; 14:4
the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion.   Selah
17The wicked will depart to Sheol,
all the nations that forget God. # Job 8:13; Ps 50:22
18For the needy will not always be forgotten, # Ps 12:5
nor will the hope of the poor perish forever.
19Arise, O  Lord, may mortals not prevail; # Ps 3:7
let the nations be judged in Your sight.
20Put them in fear, O  Lord,
that the nations themselves may know that they are mortals. # Isa 31:3    Selah
