Psalms 50
50
A Psalm of Asaph.
1The Mighty One, God the Lord, # Jos 22:22
has spoken and summoned the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting. # Ps 113:3
2Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, # Ps 48:2
God has shined forth. # Dt 33:2
3Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent;
a devouring fire shall precede Him, # Lev 10:2; Da 7:10
and it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.
4He shall call to the heavens above,
and to the earth, # Dt 31:28; Isa 1:2 that He may judge His people:
5“Gather My faithful ones to Me,
those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”
6The heavens shall declare His righteousness, # Ps 97:6
for God Himself is Judge. # Ps 75:7 Selah
7“Hear, O My people, and I will speak,
O Israel, I will testify against you; # Ps 81:8
I am God, your God. # Ex 20:2
8Not for your sacrifices will I rebuke you;
your burnt offerings are continually before Me. # Ps 51:16; Hos 6:6
9I will not accept a young bull from your house,
or goats from your folds.
10For every beast of the forest is Mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.
11I know all the birds of the mountains, # Mt 6:26
and the wild beasts of the field are Mine.
12If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
for the world and all its fullness are Mine. # Ex 19:5; Dt 10:14
13Will I eat the flesh of bulls,
or drink the blood of goats?
14“Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, # Heb 13:15
and pay your vows to the Most High. # Dt 23:21
15Call on Me in the day of trouble; # Ps 91:15
I will deliver you, and you will glorify Me.” # Ps 22:23
16But to the wicked God says:
“What right have you to declare My statutes,
or take My covenant on your lips?
17For you hate instruction, # Pr 12:1
and cast My words behind you. # Ne 9:26
18When you see a thief, you are pleased with him, # Ro 1:32; 1Ti 5:22
and you partake with adulterers.
19You give your mouth to evil,
and your tongue frames deceit. # Ps 10:7
20You sit and speak against your brother;
you slander your own mother’s son. # Mt 10:21
21These things have you done, and I kept silent; # Isa 57:11
you thought that I was indeed like you;
but I will rebuke you
and make a case before your eyes. # Ps 90:8
22“Now consider this, you who forget God, # Ps 9:17
lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver: # Ps 7:2
23Whoever offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice
glorifies Me;
to him who orders his conduct aright,
I will show the salvation of God.” # Ps 91:16
