144
A Psalm of David.
1Blessed be the Lord my rock, # Ps 18:2
who trains my hands for war, # Ps 18:34
and my fingers for battle;
2my lovingkindness and my fortress,
my high tower and my deliverer,
my shield and He in whom I take refuge, # Ps 18:2
who subdues my people under me. # Ps 18:47
3Lord, what is man, that You take regard of him?
Or the son of a man, that You are mindful of him? # Ps 8:4; Heb 2:6
4Man is like a breath;
his days are like a passing shadow. # Job 8:9; Ps 102:11
5Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down; # Ps 18:9
touch the mountains, that they may smoke. # Ps 104:32
6Cast forth lightning and scatter them;
shoot out Your arrows and destroy them.
7Stretch Your hand from above;
rescue me and deliver me
out of the great waters, # Ps 18:16
from the hand of foreigners, # Ps 18:44
8whose mouth speaks vain words, # Ps 12:2
and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
9I will sing a new song to You, O God; # Ps 40:3
on a harp of ten strings will I sing praises to You, # Ps 33:2–3
10who gives salvation to kings, # Ps 18:50
who delivers David His servant from the deadly sword.
11Rescue me and deliver me
from the hand of foreigners,
whose mouth speaks lying words
and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
12May our sons in their youth
be like plants fully grown, # Ps 128:3
our daughters like pillars,
sculptured to adorn a palace;
13may our barns be full,
supplying every kind of produce;
may our sheep bring forth
thousands and ten thousands in our fields;
14may our cattle be strong in labor,
may there be no breaking in
or going out;
and may there be no outcry in our streets!
15Blessed are the people who are in such a state;
blessed are the people whose God is the Lord. # Dt 33:29; Ps 33:12
