The Offering for the Saints
1It is redundant for me to write to you concerning the ministry to the saints. 2#2Co 8:10; 8:8; 8:24I know your willingness, for which I boast of you to those in Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago, and your zeal has stirred up most of them. 3#2Co 8:6Yet I have sent the brothers, lest our boasting of you might be in vain in this case, that, as I said, you may be ready; 4and lest if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we (not to mention you) should be ashamed of this confident boasting. 5#Ge 33:11; 1Sa 25:27Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brothers to go ahead to you and arrange beforehand your bountiful gift you previously promised, that it might be prepared as a gift, not as a matter of greed.
6#Pr 22:9; Lk 6:38But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7#Ex 25:2; 2Co 8:12Let every man give according to the purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8God is able to make all grace abound toward you, so that you, always having enough of everything, may abound to every good work. 9#Ps 112:9As it is written:
“He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor;
His righteousness remains forever.”#Ps 112:9.
10#Isa 55:10; Hos 10:12Now He who supplies seed to the sower and supplies bread for your food will also multiply your seed sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness. 11#2Co 1:11; 1Co 1:5So you will be enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which makes us give thanks to God.
12For the administration of this service not only supplies the need of the saints, but is abundant also through many thanksgivings to God. 13#Mt 5:16Meanwhile, through the performance of this ministry, they glorify God for the profession of your faith in the gospel of Christ and for your liberal sharing with them and with all others. 14And in their prayer for you, they long for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you. 15#2Co 2:14; Jn 3:16Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.

2 Corinthians 9
9
1 It is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the service to the saints, 2for I know your readiness, of which I boast on your behalf to those of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for the past year. Your zeal has stirred up very many of them. 3But I have sent the brothers so that our boasting on your behalf may not be in vain in this respect, that, just as I said, you may be prepared, 4lest by any means, if anyone from Macedonia comes there with me and finds you unprepared, we (to say nothing of you) would be disappointed in this confident boasting. 5I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness.
6Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work. 9As it is written,
“He has scattered abroad. He has given to the poor.
His righteousness remains forever.”#Psalms 112:9
10 Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11you being enriched in everything for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us. 12For this service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack amongst the saints, but abounds also through much giving of thanks to God, 13seeing that through the proof given by this service, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the Good News of Christ and for the generosity of your contribution to them and to all, 14while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, yearn for you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you. 15Now thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift!
