Deuteronomy 26:1

The biblical observance of Shavuot, or Pentecost, was originally a harvest festival celebrating the firstfruits of the crops. Today, Shavuot focuses on the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai.

For millennia, God’s people have been carrying out a weekly Bible study plan. Every year, they read through the Torah from Genesis to Deuteronomy. In synagogue each week, they read and study a Bible passage—the weekly "parshah". This "parshah" is called “Ki Tavo,” which is Hebrew for “When You Enter,” and covers Deuteronomy 26:1–29:8.

Bikkurim, or “firstfruits,” is a term familiar to both Jews and Christians. It conjures up sentiments such as gratitude, giving back to God, and celebrating the abundant gifts that He has bestowed upon us. In this reading plan, we will explore the origins of the bikkurim and discover the source of the firstfruits tradition. Most importantly, we will learn how this ancient practice still applies to our lives today.

When we fool ourselves into thinking that God is after our money or needs our money, we miss the whole point. God is after our hearts, and many times in our day and age, we have trouble separating our money from our hearts. In fact, we've found many times it's one of the hardest things for people to be obedient in. We've also seen that many Christians carry around unnecessary anxiety and worry because they refuse to trust God with their finances. Take your life back by learning to be faithful with your money through this Bible plan!
