Psalms 132

Psalms 132

The Eternal Dwelling of God in Zion
A Song of Ascents.
1Lord, remember David
And all his afflictions;
2How he swore to the Lord,
#(Ps. 130:7)And vowed to #Ps. 65:1the Mighty One of Jacob:
3“Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house,
Or go up to the comfort of my bed;
4I will #Gen. 49:24; Is. 49:26; 60:16not give sleep to my eyes
Or slumber to my eyelids,
5Until I #Prov. 6:4find a place for the Lord,
A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6Behold, we heard of it #1 Kin. 8:17; 1 Chr. 22:7; Ps. 26:8; Acts 7:46in Ephrathah;
#1 Sam. 17:12We found it #1 Sam. 7:1in the fields of the woods.
7Let us go into His tabernacle;
#1 Chr. 13:5Let us worship at His footstool.
8#Ps. 5:7; 99:5Arise, O Lord, to Your resting place,
You and #Num. 10:35the ark of Your strength.
9Let Your priests #Ps. 78:61be clothed with righteousness,
And let Your saints shout for joy.
10For Your servant David’s sake,
Do not turn away the face of Your Anointed.
11#Job 29:14The Lord has sworn in truth to David;
He will not turn from it:
“I will set upon your throne #(Ps. 89:3, 4, 33; 110:4)the fruit of your body.
12If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I shall teach them,
Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”
13#2 Sam. 7:12; (1 Kin. 8:25; 2 Chr. 6:16; Luke 1:69; Acts 2:30)For the Lord has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His dwelling place:
14“This#(Ps. 48:1, 2) is My resting place forever;
Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
15#Ps. 68:16; Matt. 23:21I will abundantly bless her provision;
I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16#Ps. 147:14I will also clothe her priests with salvation,
#2 Chr. 6:41; Ps. 132:9; 149:4And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
17#1 Sam. 4:5; Hos. 11:12There I will make the horn of David grow;
#Ezek. 29:21; Luke 1:69I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed.
18His enemies I will #1 Kin. 11:36; 15:4; 2 Kin. 8:19; 2 Chr. 21:7; Ps. 18:28clothe with shame,
But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.”
