The Altar for Burnt Offerings
1The workers built the altar for burnt offerings out of acacia wood. It was four feet six inches high and seven feet six inches square. 2They made a horn stick out from each of its four upper corners. They covered the altar with bronze. 3They made all its tools out of bronze. They made its pots, shovels, sprinkling bowls, meat forks, and pans for carrying ashes. 4They made a bronze grate for the altar. They put the grate halfway up the altar on the inside. 5They made a bronze ring for each of the four corners of the grate. 6They made poles out of acacia wood. They covered them with bronze. 7They put the poles through the rings. The poles were on two sides of the altar for carrying it. The workers made the altar out of boards. They left it hollow.
The Large Bowl for Washing
8The workers made the large bronze bowl and its bronze stand. They made them out of bronze mirrors. The mirrors belonged to the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
The Courtyard
9Next, the workers made the courtyard. The south side was 150 feet long. It had curtains made out of finely twisted linen. 10The curtains had 20 posts and 20 bronze bases. The posts had silver hooks and bands on them. 11The north side was also 150 feet long. Its curtains had 20 posts and 20 bronze bases. The posts had silver hooks and bands on them.
12The west end was 75 feet wide. It had curtains with ten posts and ten bases. The posts had silver hooks and bands on them. 13The east end, toward the sunrise, was also 75 feet wide. 14Curtains 22 feet six inches long were on one side of the entrance to the courtyard. They were hung on three posts. Each post had a base. 15Curtains 22 feet six inches long were also on the other side of the entrance. They were hung on three posts. Each post had a base. 16All the curtains around the courtyard were made out of finely twisted linen. 17The bases for the posts were made out of bronze. The hooks and bands on the posts were made out of silver. Their tops were covered with silver. So all the posts of the courtyard had silver bands.
18The curtain for the courtyard entrance was made out of blue, purple and bright red yarn and finely twisted linen. A person who sewed skillfully made it. It was 30 feet long. Like the curtains of the courtyard, it was seven feet six inches high. 19It had four posts and four bronze bases. Their hooks and bands were made out of silver. Their tops were covered with silver. 20All the tent stakes of the holy tent were made out of bronze. So were all the stakes of the courtyard around it.
The Amounts of the Metals Used
21Here are the amounts of the metals used for the holy tent, where the tablets of the covenant law were kept. Moses commanded the Levites to record the amounts. The Levites did the work under the direction of Ithamar. Ithamar was the son of Aaron the priest. 22Bezalel, the son of Uri, made everything the Lord had commanded Moses. Uri was the son of Hur. Bezalel was from the tribe of Judah. 23Oholiab, the son of Ahisamak, helped Bezalel. Oholiab was from the tribe of Dan. He could carve things and make patterns. And he could sew skillfully with blue, purple and bright red yarn and on fine linen. 24The total weight of the gold from the wave offering was more than a ton. It was weighed out in keeping with the standard weights used in the sacred tent. The gold was used for all the work done in connection with the sacred tent.
25The silver received from the men in the community who were listed and counted weighed almost four tons. It was weighed out in keeping with the weights used in the sacred tent. 26It amounted to a fifth of an ounce for each person. It was weighed out in keeping with the weights used in the sacred tent. The silver was received from the men who had been listed and counted. All of them were 20 years old or more. Their total number was 603,550. 27The four tons of silver were used to make the bases for the holy tent and for the curtain. The 100 bases were made from the four tons. Each base used more than 75 pounds of silver. 28The workers used 45 pounds to make the hooks for the posts, to cover the tops of the posts, and to make their bands.
29The bronze from the wave offering weighed two and a half tons. 30The workers used some of it to make the bases for the entrance to the tent of meeting. They used some for the bronze altar for burnt offerings and its bronze grate and all its tools. 31They used some for the bases for the courtyard around the holy tent. They used some for the bases for the courtyard entrance. And they used the rest to make all the tent stakes for the holy tent and the courtyard around it.

Making the Altar of Burnt Offering
1Bezalel#Ex 27:1–8 constructed the altar of burnt offering from acacia wood. It was square, 7½ feet long and 7½ feet wide,#38:1 Lit five cubits its length and five cubits its width and was 4½ feet#38:1 Lit three cubits high. 2He made horns for it on its four corners; the horns were of one piece with it. Then he overlaid it with bronze.
3He made all the altar’s utensils: the pots, shovels, basins, meat forks, and firepans; he made all its utensils of bronze. 4He constructed for the altar a grate of bronze mesh under its ledge,#38:4 Or rim halfway up from the bottom. 5He cast four rings at the four corners of the bronze grate as holders for the poles. 6He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with bronze. 7Then he inserted the poles into the rings on the sides of the altar in order to carry it with them. He constructed the altar with boards so that it was hollow.
Making the Bronze Basin
8He made the bronze basin and its stand from the bronze mirrors of the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.#Ex 30:18; 1Sm 2:22
Making the Courtyard
9Then#Ex 27:9–19 he made the courtyard. The hangings on the south side of the courtyard were of finely spun linen, 150 feet#38:9 Lit 100 cubits, also in v. 11 long, 10including their twenty posts and their twenty bronze bases, with silver hooks and silver bands#38:10 Or connecting rods, also in vv. 11,17,19,28 for the posts. 11The hangings on the north side were also 150 feet long, including their twenty posts and twenty bronze bases. The hooks and bands of the posts were silver. 12The hangings on the west side were 75 feet#38:12 Lit 50 cubits, also in v. 13 long, including their ten posts and their ten bases, with silver hooks and silver bands for the posts. 13And for the east side toward the sunrise, 75 feet long, 14the hangings on one side of the gate were 22½ feet,#38:14 Lit 15 cubits, also in v. 15 including their three posts and their three bases. 15It was the same for the other side of the courtyard gate. The hangings were 22½ feet, including their three posts and their three bases. 16All the hangings around the courtyard were of finely spun linen. 17The bases for the posts were bronze; the hooks and bands of the posts were silver; and the plating for the tops of the posts was silver. All the posts of the courtyard were banded with silver.
18The screen for the gate of the courtyard was made of finely spun linen, expertly embroidered#38:18 Or woven with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn. It was 30 feet#38:18 Lit 20 cubits long, and like the hangings of the courtyard, 7½ feet#38:18 Lit five cubits high.#38:18 Lit high in width 19It had four posts with their four bronze bases. Their hooks were silver, and their top plating and their bands were silver. 20All the tent pegs for the tabernacle and for the surrounding courtyard were bronze.
Inventory of Materials
21This is the inventory for the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the testimony,#Nm 1:50,53; 9:15; 10:11; 17:7–8; 2Ch 24:6; Ac 7:44 that was recorded at Moses’s command. It was the work of the Levites under the direction of#38:21 Lit Levites by the hand of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.#Nm 4:28,33 22Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything that the Lord commanded Moses. 23With him was Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, a gem cutter, a designer, and an embroiderer with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen.
24All the gold of the presentation offering that was used for the project in all the work on the sanctuary, was 2,193 pounds,#38:24 Lit 29 talents and 730 shekels according to the sanctuary shekel.#Ex 30:13; Lv 27:25; Nm 3:47; 18:16 25The silver from those of the community who were registered was 7,544 pounds,#38:25 Lit 100 talents and 1,775 shekels according to the sanctuary shekel — 26one-fifth of an ounce#38:26 Lit a beka per man, that is, half a shekel according to the sanctuary shekel, from everyone twenty years old or more who had crossed over to the registered group, 603,550 men. 27There were 7,500 pounds#38:27 Lit 100 talents of silver used to cast the bases of the sanctuary and the bases of the curtain — one hundred bases from 7,500 pounds, 75 pounds#38:27 Lit one talent for each base.#Ex 26:19,21,25,32; 30:13; Nm 1:46 28With the remaining 44 pounds#38:28 Lit 1,775 (shekels) he made the hooks for the posts, overlaid their tops, and supplied bands for them.
29The bronze of the presentation offering totaled 5,310 pounds.#38:29 Lit 70 talents and 2,400 shekels 30He made with it the bases for the entrance to the tent of meeting, the bronze altar and its bronze grate, all the utensils for the altar, 31the bases for the surrounding courtyard, the bases for the gate of the courtyard, all the tent pegs for the tabernacle, and all the tent pegs for the surrounding courtyard.
