The Altar for Burnt Offerings
1“Build an altar out of acacia wood. It must be four feet six inches high and seven feet six inches square. 2Make a horn stick out from each of its upper four corners. The horns and the altar must be all one piece. Cover the altar with bronze. 3Make everything for the altar out of bronze. Make its pots to remove the ashes. Make its shovels, sprinkling bowls, meat forks, and pans for carrying ashes. 4Make a bronze grate for the altar. Make a bronze ring for each of the four corners of the grate. 5Put the grate halfway up the altar on the inside. 6Make poles out of acacia wood for the altar. Cover them with bronze. 7Put the poles through the rings. They will be on two sides of the altar for carrying it. 8Make the altar out of boards. Leave it hollow. It must look just like what I showed you on the mountain.
The Courtyard
9“Make a courtyard for the holy tent. The south side must be 150 feet long. It must have curtains that are made out of finely twisted linen. 10The curtains must be hung on 20 posts that have 20 bronze bases. The posts must have silver hooks and bands on them. 11The north side must also be about 150 feet long. It must have curtains with 20 posts that have 20 bronze bases. The posts must have silver hooks and bands on them.
12“The west end of the courtyard must be 75 feet wide. It must have curtains with ten posts that have ten bases. 13The east end of the courtyard, toward the sunrise, must also be 75 feet wide. 14On one side of the entrance you must put curtains that are 22 feet six inches long. Hang them on three posts. Each post must have a base. 15On the other side you must also put curtains that are 22 feet six inches long. Hang them on three posts. Each post must have a base.
16“For the entrance to the courtyard, provide a curtain 30 feet long. Make it out of blue, purple and bright red yarn and finely twisted linen. Have someone who sews skillfully make it. Hang it on four posts. Each post must have a base. 17All the posts that are around the courtyard must have silver bands and hooks. They must also have bronze bases. 18The courtyard must be 150 feet long and 75 feet wide. It must have curtains that are made out of finely twisted linen. They must be seven feet six inches high. The posts must have bronze bases. 19Make out of bronze all the other things used for any purpose in the holy tent. That includes all the tent stakes for the tent and the courtyard.
Oil for the Lampstand
20“Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil made from pressed olives. Use it to keep the lamps burning and giving light. 21Aaron and his sons must keep the lamps burning in the tent of meeting. The lamps will be outside the curtain in front of the tablets of the covenant law. The lamps must be kept burning in front of the Lord from evening until morning. This is a law for the Israelites that will last for all time to come.

1“You#Ex 38:1–7; Ezk 43:13 are to construct the altar of acacia wood. The altar must be square, 7½ feet long, and 7½ feet wide;#27:1 Lit five cubits in length and five cubits in width it must be 4½ feet high.#27:1 Lit wide; and its height three cubits 2Make horns for it on its four corners; the horns are to be of one piece.#27:2 Lit piece with it Overlay it with bronze.#Nm 16:38; Ps 118:27 3Make its pots for removing ashes, and its shovels, basins, meat forks, and firepans; make all its utensils of bronze. 4Construct a grate for it of bronze mesh, and make four bronze rings on the mesh at its four corners. 5Set it below, under the altar’s ledge,#27:5 Perhaps a ledge around the altar on which the priests could stand; Lv 9:22 so that the mesh comes halfway up#27:5 Or altar’s rim, so that the grid comes halfway down the altar. 6Then make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with bronze. 7The poles are to be inserted into the rings so that the poles are on two sides of the altar when it is carried. 8Construct the altar with boards so that it is hollow. They are to make it just as it was shown to you on the mountain.#Ex 25:40; 26:30
The Courtyard
9“You#Ex 38:9–20 are to make the courtyard for the tabernacle. Make hangings for the south side of the courtyard out of finely spun linen, 150 feet#27:9 Lit 100 cubits, also in v. 11 long on that side 10including twenty posts and twenty bronze bases, with silver hooks and silver bands#27:10 Or connecting rods, also in v. 11 for the posts. 11And so make hangings 150 feet long for the north side, including twenty posts and their twenty bronze bases, with silver hooks and silver bands for the posts. 12For the width of the courtyard, make hangings 75 feet#27:12 Lit 50 cubits, also in v. 13 long for the west side, including their ten posts and their ten bases. 13And for the width of the courtyard on the east side toward the sunrise, 75 feet, 14make hangings 22½ feet#27:14 Lit 15 cubits, also in v. 15 long for one side of the gate, including their three posts and their three bases. 15And make hangings 22½ feet long for the other side, including their three posts and their three bases. 16The gate of the courtyard is to have a 30-foot#27:16 Lit 20-cubit screen#Ex 35:17; 38:18; 39:40; 40:8,33; Nm 3:26; 4:26 embroidered#27:16 Or woven with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely spun linen. It is to have four posts and their four bases.
17“All the posts around the courtyard are to be banded with silver and have silver hooks and bronze bases. 18The courtyard is to be 150 feet long, 75 feet wide at each end, and 7½ feet high,#27:18 Lit be 100 by the cubit, and the width 50 by 50, and the height five cubits all of it made of finely spun linen. The bases of the posts are to be bronze. 19All the utensils of the tabernacle for every use and all its tent pegs as well as all the tent pegs of the courtyard are to be made of bronze.
The Lampstand Oil
20“You are to command the Israelites to bring you pure oil from crushed olives for the light, in order to keep the lamp burning regularly. 21In the tent of meeting outside the curtain that is in front of the testimony,#Ex 30:8; 1Sm 3:3; 2Ch 13:11 Aaron and his sons are to tend the lamp#Ex 26:31,33; 28:43 from evening until morning before the Lord. This is to be a permanent statute#Ex 29:9; Lv 3:17; 16:34; Nm 18:23; 19:21 for the Israelites throughout their generations.
