Psalms 141
141
A Prayer Not to Sin
A psalm of David.
1Lord, I call to you. Come quickly.
Listen to me when I call to you.
2Let my prayer be like incense placed before you,
and my praise like the evening sacrifice.
3Lord, help me control my tongue;
help me be careful about what I say.
4Take away my desire to do evil
or to join others in doing wrong.
Don’t let me eat tasty food
with those who do evil.
5If a good person punished me, that would be kind.
If he corrected me, that would be like perfumed oil on my head.
I shouldn’t refuse it.
But I pray against those who do evil.
6Let their leaders be thrown down the cliffs.
Then people will know that I have spoken correctly:
7“The ground is plowed and broken up.
In the same way, our bones have been scattered at the grave.”
8God, I look to you for help.
I trust in you, Lord. Don’t let me die.
9Protect me from the traps they set for me
and from the net that evil people have spread.
10Let the wicked fall into their own nets,
but let me pass by safely.

Psalm 141
A Psalm of David.
1¶ Lord, I have called unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
2Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense, the gift of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
3Set a watch, O Lord, upon my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
4Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to do works with ungodliness with the men that work iniquity, and let me not eat of their dainties.
5¶ Let the righteous smite me in mercy, and let him reprove me: and let not a flattering evil prince anoint my head, for my prayer shall ever be against his evil.
6Their judges shall be thrown down from strong places; they shall hearken unto my words; for they are sweet.
7Our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol, as when one cuts and cleaves wood upon the earth.
8Therefore mine eyes look unto thee, O GOD the Lord; in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
9Keep me from the hands of the snare which they have laid for me, and from the snares of the workers of iniquity.
10Let the wicked fall together into their own nets, whilst I pass on ahead forever.
