Wild Week 5

Wild Week 5

God has intentionally revealed Himself to humans throughout time, and one avenue through which He has done this is His creation. The Bible tells us that we can find displays of His power and divine nature all around us. Join us as we take a look at the sovereignly designed creation and, ultimately, find the majesty of our Creator.

Psalms 42:1-2
As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. (2) My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
Deer are designed to run.
Ecclesiastes 3:9-11
What gain has the worker from his toil? (10) I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. (11) He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
Our running must give way to resting.
Exodus 33:14-16
And he said, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." (15) And he said to him, "If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. (16) For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?"
Jesus is the one that gives purpose to our running and our resting.
Philippians 3:8-12
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ (9) and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith-- (10) that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, (11) that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. (12) Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
Through worship, we declare what is most valuable.
In worship we make ourselves vulnerable.
“The continuous and unembarrassed interchange of love and thought between God and the soul of the redeemed man is the throbbing heart of New Testament religion.”
― A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God
Through worship God makes Himself available.
Proverbs 8:17
I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.
The water that satisfies is a picture of Jesus.
John 4:13-20
Jesus said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, (14) but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (15) The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water." (16) Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here." (17) The woman answered him, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You are right in saying, 'I have no husband'; (18) for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true." (19) The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. (20) Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship."
As you trust in and drink deeply from Jesus, you will be satisfied.
John 4:25-30
The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things." (26) Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he." (27) Just then his disciples came back. They marveled that he was talking with a woman, but no one said, "What do you seek?" or, "Why are you talking with her?" (28) So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, (29) "Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?" (30) They went out of the town and were coming to him.
