Quote

“Can’t see the forest for the trees” - An expression used of someone who is so involved in the details of a situation that miss the big picture.
Main Point #1

When considering the Easter account, we shouldn't miss that ...

#1 Jesus DRANK the CUP.
Sub Point

*The "cup" wasn't just an APPROPRIATE METAPHOR, but was connected to a REAL EXPERIENCE.
Sub Point

*When WE cause PAIN, God's JUSTICE demands CONSEQUENCES.
Newton's Third Law of Motion

"For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."

Cup-o-Wrath Observations:

*We all have OUR cup.

*We have all added to the CUP.

*There are UNTHINKABLE THINGS in the cup.

*God is typically a STORER and POURER.
Main Point #2

When considering the Easter account, we shouldn't miss that ...

#2 Jesus RECOVERED from DEATH.

Easter Theories

The Hallucination Theory - This theory says all of Christ’s post-resurrection appearances were really only supposed appearances because actually the people only had hallucinations.

The Unknown Tomb Theory - One of the earliest theories present to explain everything away is that the disciples did not know where the tomb was located and could not have found the empty grave.

The Impersonation Theory - This is the view that the appearances were not really Christ at all, but someone impersonating Him.

The Theft Theory - The disciples stole the body and claimed that He rose from the dead.
