Series Introduction:
"What's In a Name?"
(Genesis 32:22-30)
Why focus on names?
Because Biblical names carried significant meaning. A person's name is synonymous with a person's character and or actions.
Who gave you your name? Why that one?
Divinely inspired name changes include...
• Abram became Abraham (father of many nations)
• Simon became Cephas/Peter (rock)
• Jacob, His name means supplanter (today we would use the term "conman")
Jacob, the Double-barreled Conman:
#1 He conned his brother, Esau. (See Genesis 25:29-34)
#2 He conned his daddy, Isaac. (See Genesis 27)
